I looked at this wondering if I’d be able to DETECT these fires on this scale. It’s jaw-dropping.
There are two smoke plumes at the center left. The long one extends to the southwest over the Pacific to the latitude of Los Angeles.
The hot link works for me from the edit preview. You can go to it with a search on Modis Rapid Response Orbit Swath, and selecting the indicated “Terra” thumbnail.
This is a quasi-permanent gallery, so it shouldn’t vanish on you.
