More Euro-man than Euro-men.

I had mine done and I am almost all British Isles.

Not unexpected.

I’d be interested in the genealogical sites you refer to.

Cheers, ‘Pod

Thank God I am not in Europe welcoming the Muslim hordes.

My brother and his wife took that test, no surprises"We" are 100% western European while his wife is a mix of American Indian, Africa and Eastern European(Polish))Again, nothing we didn't already know.

And welcoming Moooolims isn't the only thing I'm glad my ancestors turned their buttcheeks west and crossed the big pond!

The percentage of whites in the entire world... 5 to 6%
The most hated people.
The most successful.
And the only endangered race.
Embrace reality, or die.

Those default reports from the genealogy sites only look back may be 400 years. They are good for genealogy, but not for true ancestry. But they also provide raw genetic data, which you can use in other ancestral services to get a more accurate picture. Some calculators look far back up to thousands of years. Basically, they look at ancestral populations before the era of constant mass migrations that started around 400 years ago.

Run your genetic data against those services (most are free) and you might see what percentage of your ancestry originated with the aboriginal Europeans and what percentage was from the neolithic Middle Easterners and the Central Asian steppe nomads. There might even be ancestral South Eurasian in you.

I catch those commercials from time to time. I’ve yet to see ANYONE that is more than 50%, of ‘anything.’ I wonder what the real percentages are and why they’re so selective in not showing people that are basically of one ethnicity?

And nobody is showing up Jewish at ALL in these commercials. Oy! *SMIRK*

I think this DNA testing smacks of Globalism and making us all One Worlders. See? See? We’re all ALIKE! You’re NO more special than anyone else!

But then, in the SAME breath we’re told to, ‘check our privilege’ and that being white is now the most AWFUL thing you could possibly be! You’re a BORN Racist! It’s in your DNA!

*Rolleyes*

Just an observation; not picking on you specifically. You SAID you wanted to ‘chat’ about it, LOL!

Years ago, I did a DNA check. The surprising results: I’m a duke on my father’s side, and an earl on my mother’s side. So yes, I’m a duke, and an earl. I’m the Duke of Earl.

As I said to my current wife (and previously, to all of my ex-wives):

And when I hold you
You’ll be my Duchess, Duchess of Earl
We’ll walk through my dukedom
And a paradise we will share...

I did the spit test and got back my results:

Nearly half Eastern EU (Polish, Slovac, German) and nearly half Western EU (English, Scottish, Irish) with 2% Bantu.

My daughter got back the same 2% Bantu.

Don't know what to think about that, not that I mind but we can't figure out where the ancestors are in our line and why would both of us have the same percentage.

On another note - I am cousins to both Patton and the guy who played him in the movie.

Mine came out Irish, Italian, and Spanish (Iberian Peninsula?), along with a smattering of Swedish (2-3%) and other little chunks of DNA. 2-3 percent Arab, which I suppose makes me slightly crazy. Weirdly, the Spanish DNA was only 12 percent, even though I have a Spanish surname, and we all thought we were just European Spanish because the family is from Monterrey, Mexico, and of all the blondies and red heads in the family. It turns out we’re more Italian and Irish than Spanish.

I’ve been messing with genealogy for years. Four years ago I did a 23andMe DNA test which showed 99.9 Western European. That matches what I know of the family. Then I downloaded the DNA file from 23andMe and started running it through other tools with varied results. Try it. there are lots of tools out there and none of them know everything. One shows me with 3.8% Neanderthal, which my wife says explains a lot.

68% Scandinavia
20% Europe East
12% British Isles

No surprises at all. Family came over from Sweden and Norway around 1900. Ancestry has genetic communities for me in Norway, but none in this country.

Guarantee Big Brother is using Ancestry to get more data on you. I’ve done my own genealogy research back several hundred years. That’s enough for me and verified the family stories. I don’t need the NSA to know any more.

My Y-dna haplogroup is I1, which centers on the middle of Sweden.

Exactly same as my “genealogical” paternal great grandfathers, many generations back, too.

DNA works.

I do not want to have my DNA run as to ancestry. I am afraid the tales about my great grandparents might be true.

I am administrator for several tests. We have been trying to research my grandmother's lineage for years. She was adopted, but did not learn she was adopted until she was in her mid forties. Her adoptive mother refused to give her any information. Took it with her to the grave.

We tested her son ( my uncle) several years ago, but had no way of making sense of the results, so the results just sat for a while. Then I attended a genealogy seminar that focused on this very thing and was able to triangulate until I located a possible mother. It turns out this woman's grandfather was a Czech who immigrated in the 1850s (He called himself Austrian on some census records and Hungarian on others...because at the time of his emigration, the area was part of the Hapsburg Empire). He had fought for the Empire in Italy in the 1840s, then after immigration he fought for the Union in the Civil War. The things that man must have seen.

Here's the weird part...I located his hometown, which is just outside of Brno in modern Czech Republic. I was in Brno in the 1990s...while I was in college, an opportunity to live in Prague sort of fell in my lap and while there I traveled around Bohemia for a bit. I fell in love with the country even though I had had no interest in it previously. I almost fell out of my chair when I found out where he was from.

I do think our ancestors guide us sometimes.

So, what you are saying is you don’t mind giving a DNA sample to the gubmint without a warrant? Why not send your serial numbers to your gun collection also?
