SUNRISE, Fla -- Tampa Bay Lightning forward J.T. Brown raised his right fist during the playing of the national anthem before the team's first road game of the season.
It is the first known demonstration of any kind during the anthem in an NHL regular-season game. The NHL has no rules governing what players must do during the national anthem.

If the NHL is smart
They would suspend him and let him know if he does it again he is out.
The NHL has no rules governing what players must do during the national anthem.
Use common sense....your next paycheck depends on it.
Sports used to be a fun distraction but look at all the time and money we all spend watching the various big money sports. People worship at the altar of sports, maybe its time to cut this cord entirely?
The stadiums are getting bigger and bigger, the salaries are insane, the tax burden on many cities is horrible. It all needs a reboot along with Hollywood.
If nothing else, sponsors need to drop these a- holes like pants on the ground
I’m just about done with all pro sports - eff this punk.
Just checked. Can find nuttin’ so far from the NHL. My bet is they’ve gone fetal.
The NATIONAL hockey League is American. The least this thug could do is stand up out of respect for his country.
Just wait until basketball season starts. And you can bet the leftists are working on baseball...they won’t be immune, either.
I despise these leftists.
There goes NHL unless they are smart and will get rid of his anti-American creep.
Bench him and let him rot if his contract doesn’t permit more severe actions. The fans can start bringing rotten fruit, as well.
Son of a former NFL running back - apparently this bull-pucky is contagious. And a damned shame, too - one of the best aspects of the NHL was the respect players everywhere - including Russia, Slovakia, the Scandinavian countries, whatever - gave to the anthems of both the US and Canada.
He did stand. With his fist raised. Sounds like the idjit was trying to have it both ways at the expense of his team, his league, the fans, vendors....
J.T. Brown, born in Minnesota.
NHL Commish,
Nip it in the bud!
Can the NHL afford to lose around 10% viewership/ticket income per week?
99% of the viewers and ticket purchasers are fans for the sport, NOT FOR THE POLITICS.
Other than a loss of revenue and viewership, what has the football protests accomplished? ZERO, NADA, Nothing.
He might be looking for work soon. The owner of the Tampa franchise has stated he will NOT tolerate that behavior on his team. Let’s see what happens.
