Hundreds of Kalamazoo residents in the Oakwood neighborhood lost power for over five hours after a tree was blown over and fell onto an ice cream truck, according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

It happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Springmont Avenue and Barnard Street in Kalamazoo. KDPS confirmed the accident, and Consumers Energy outage map shows almost 200 customers have lost power in Kalamazoo.

Some sort of wind event blew through southern Michigan last night. I was in Michigan last night, east of Kalamazoo, when the storm blew through. The tornado warning sirens started at about 10:15.

I also happened to be in Texas last month, 50 miles from the eye of Harvey, when Harvey stalled over Victoria, Texas. We have the same wind speed devices at both locations. The indicated wind speed last night was HIGTHER when the storm blew through, than it was in Texas during Harvey.

If a tree falls on an ice cream truck in the forest and no one is around, does it leave a crunch?

Did the ice cream truck supply electricity? I guess the utility truck supply ice cream, then??

For sanity’s sake I hope the ice cream truck music isn’t stuck on Play.
