I'm on a 6. Not sure what benefit there is to upgrading at the moment. Battery life, eventually, I guess.

Ping.
But in the winter it will keep your hand warm! ;-)
I won’t even let my 5S update to 10.2.1.
I have no issues and am not interested in any potential personal liberty downgrades.
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Luna from Walmart for only $25 after rebate. It is the first good quality cell phone I have owned.
I am amazed at how long the battery lasts. Just last night I talked to an old friend for over an hour and when I checked, the battery was still 96% full. It recharged completely in just a few minutes.
I’m pretty sure iOS 11 works best with the new iPhone 8/8S and iPhone X.
So, get one of those and stop your griping. Apple will appreciate your contributions.
Wait on update? NO WAY. We did ours when they came out, still exploring new features. Some I like, others are 'why change things', but that is typical of every major release of Apple or Microsoft products.
Interesting, because my battery life was great before the update and spectacular since. Even being on all morning, at lunch time I’m at 96%.
They purposely embed these upgrades with performance drains so that users get frustrated and upgrade to the new phone which, surprise, is released just afterward.
My LG phone and Android tablet suck as well. HORRIBLE!
My God,I just came across this thread.
I upgraded my iPod Saturday and I recharge the battery every night.
Don’t pay much attention to the battery because I use the iPod less then 2 hours a day.
When I saw this thread I picked it up and looked——it’s almost drained.
I am stunned.

I don’t get it. Off the charger, talk on the phone for an hour, surf the web and I’m at 200% and Apple charged my credit card for the power used.
I have an iPhone 5 that was given to me by my daughter...to replace an old Jitterbug I had. I would have never bought it for myself...in fact, I didn't buy the Jitterbug...I was perfectly happy being able to go to town and screw off and not get a damned call about picking up milk or something or just be asked what I'm doing...as if it's their business.
I've found two advantages...one is that I can hear better on it...the other is the built-in compass and level.
All them "apps" don't do nothing for me.
I plug it in about every 4 days...it charges back to 100% and I'm ready to make my once or twice a day phone call.
Guess I'm just an old fuddy-duddy and a Luddite.
I do like that part about having that woman ask me what I want, though...and I just say "call such and such", and be damned if she don't do it for me.
So I guess that's three advantages.
She even converses with me...but I ain't been able to get her to say a dirty word, yet.
Technology is wonderful, ain't it?
In fact, it's too good...I was screwing off in the pool hall and my wife called me and I said I was looking for paint at the hardware store to paint her kitchen with, and she says yeah, right, and I suppose that noise I hear is paint cans rattling and not snooker balls clicking.
Damn phone is too good.
Interesting - on a “normal” day for me (iPhone 7 plus), I noticed battery issues in the early betas of iOS 11 (betas almost always have significant battery drain issues because of the bloated and buggy underpinnings). With the release (and the last of the betas), battery life is pretty typical - EXCEPT when running any GPS-enabled app - then battery drains faster than the charger can keep up with. This was not an issue before iOS11. Under every previous iOS, if I had my iPhone plugged in while used, say... Apple Maps or Google Maps, Waze, etc), the battery would remain pretty constantly at the same charge level, or even very very slowly charge. With every version of iOS11 (starting with the 2nd beta when I jumped in to this cycle), no charger I own can keep up with the drain using these GPS apps. Battery drains slower than unplugged...
Otherwise - using the phone for everything else from browsing, talk, games, etc - battery life is right on par with what it was before.
Gold release? iOS 11 has been fully released.
