Monday Morning QB: Response to President Trump Made Roger Goodell ‘Proud of Our League’
SI ^ | September 25, 2017 | Peter King

On Sunday evening, the 48 Hours That Roiled the NFL were almost over. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sat monitoring the second half of the late-window games in the NFL’s officiating command center. He took a short break to consider what happened on what one owner told me was the strangest weekend he’d seen in his tenure in the league.

“The way we reacted today, and this weekend, made me proud,” Goodell said. “I’m proud of our league.”

I don’t think he cares about that. He is a leftist and they care about advancing their agenda above all else. He could care less about what fans think as he has already shown numerous times. He will be personally well compensated no matter what happens.

Rush is killing it right now. Very powerful.
He says yesterday was the first Sunday he hasn’t watched the NFL in 45 years.

Add me into that mix. Did check some scores on phone, but no TV viewing for me.

Happen to be a Cowboys fan, and at least Jerry Jones is standing tall on the issue.

Monday night primetime, so I know this will be pregame fodder for MSM. Hope the Cowboys stand tall with hands over hearts to show what the Anthem is about and they stand for America.....

JJ is all about branding so adding one more to “Americas Team moniker” wouldn’t surprise me.

Rush Limbaugh just started off his show by announcing that he didn't watch any NFL games yesterday. It was the first time that has happened in 45 years.

He didn't even react that way when the NFL wouldn't let him own a franchise.

If your employer thinks you should bring your political grievances to the office to be blasted at your customers to the detriment of your business... you work for idiots.

Excellent point.

Dear Roger:

We have the list of sponsors of the NFL. I nor the First lady will purchase from them. We were going to the Dolphins Patriots game, but not now. We will not purchase anything from the NFL store.

In conclusion, we will not be watching anymore games on TV.

I can’t believe I’m saying this Roger, but I miss Pete Roselle.

Bye.

Stunned at the level of disconnect with the fans. I think 95% of my friends swore off the NFL yesterday. Several cancelled their Sunday ticket subscriptions.

Goodell, you put the players and politics ahead of the game and football fans. You chose to focus on the product and corporate identity ahead of the customer. There is only one potential outcome for this action, and you need to recognize that unless you want to forever be known as the "Man who killed the NFL".

I am so glad he is so proud of the day he slit his wrists. The NFL will never be the same. Will the NBA and MLB learn from the NFL’s mistake or jump of the same cliff. I’m betting the out of touch millionaires will jump off the cliff. Sad but true.

I think we need to move beyond boycotting and hold some large demonstrations outside NFL stadiums.

I wouldn't even waste my time. People who lose interest in a mass-market product don't bother with that sh!t.

I'm not taking a stand against the NFL. I've walked away from it.

I don’t care enough about the NFL to waste my time doing it. I’m just done with it.

Same here. As far as I am concerned, the NFL no longer exists. Besides, I don't think the NFL can be saved now. The only chance they had was the week Kaepernick first started it, and they let it slip by. Cat's out of the bag now. Yesterday the commissioner and many of the owners showed that their teams mean more to them than their country.

I grew up in a small town 35 miles north of Green Bay Wisconsin.
My dad had a friend and business associate who played with the Packers in the 1930’s who would get us in the games and introduce us to the players.
My heroes as a kid were Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor, Elijah Pitts, Ray Nitschke, Lionel Aldridge.
The 1966 season they went 12-2 and won the World Championship (pre-Superbowl) and then won the first two Superbowls.
After over 50 years I quit cold turkey last year.

The NFL is making it clear they do not like being this nations football league.

Arrogant, self centered prick.

1st amendment is great it protects you from the government but in pro sports coaches make the rules. Paid to make rules that players follow.

Goodell is indeed an idiot. He needed to get out in front of the Krapernick thing last year. He could affirm that Krapernick has a right to his opinions but state that showing disrespect for his country and those who sacrificed for it on an NFL field is out of line.

It would have ended this whole deal. Instead he chose to pour gas on the fire.

This was Roger Goodell’s chance for a “Dixie Chicks” moment ... and he sure didn’t miss the opportunity.
