The site is a live news site, which updates continuously.

Not facts.

These seem to be suppositions. But worth considering anyway.

not to worry, if they do this, we’ll stand by and let them.

I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

So can we hack it to go straight up then straight down before exploding?

I know they have missile technology, and their tests have produced seismic events.

Of course we should be vigilant and prepared for the worst.

But seriously...

America’s interests are served in having this question not answered. If the truth is the EMP will be ineffective, we nonetheless want to bait rogue nations into attempting the EMP attack because then we’ll have the right to invade them. If the truth is the EMP will cause widespread destruction (i.e., 1 bomb wipes out America), we don’t want our enemies to know this for sure. America presumably knows the answer already.

For the opposite reason, North Korea’s interests are served in having the question answered.

So my guess is NoK is going to try to use the test as a blackmail bargaining chip.

In 1962, we set off at least three high-altitude hydrogen bombs over the western Pacific. One of them, called Starfish Prime, was detonated at an altitude of 250 miles, and caused electric system outages on Hawaii. It also caused permanent damage to at least three orbiting satellites, including the first Telstar satellite, which was made unusable as a result.

These shots were made because the USSR broke the nuclear test-ban treaty when it detonated the 50-MT Czar Bomba hydrogen bomb over Novaya Zemlya in the Arctic Ocean.

“......we’ll have the right to invade them”.

I see your other points but we don’t have the capability to invade China or Russia or Iran. Nor would we want to.

Would they dare an atmospheric test on their own territory where radiation would certainly drift to China and Russia?

Otherwise, how could they manage an atmospheric test over the Pacific?

If either of those countries launches a nuke over Mississippi and it blows up in the air and nothing major happens, there’s going to be a lot of explaining to do.

NOW where’s all the global warming guys. How good is that radiation for the Pacific Ocean and the air that waft’s it’s way over to California and beyond?

Crickets from the left I predict.

In the mid 1960’s the USA did an atomic test in a REMOTE part of the pacific and it knocked out nearly every traffic signal on the island of Kauai, I believe.

They were NOT actually doing EMP testing, either.

Well, if they blasted one just off their coast, then they are going to get China and Russia.

If they pop one any further out, it will mean war with the world.

Can’t have idiots just popping off nuclear weapons anywhere.

If the NORKS do this we should nuke carpet bomb their country from subs with very short time of delivery to stop the NORKS from hitting South Korea with chemical weapon attacks.

NORK to be held responsible for any incidental or collateral damages resulting as a consequence of an EMP test.

A horrible thought, totally unsupported:

We’ve seen that the Permanent State is COMPLETELY comfortable with the notion that the nation and state don’t perfectly overlap, right..?

That they may not overlap much, in many cases.

WHAT IF NK is NOT China’s plaything, but instead that of the Permanent State..?

What if “North Korea’s wayward craaaaaaziness” is a back-door to oust Donald Trump...?
