In the mid 1960’s the USA did an atomic test in a REMOTE part of the pacific and it knocked out nearly every traffic signal on the island of Kauai, I believe.
They were NOT actually doing EMP testing, either.
I remember reading that years ago, but cannot currently find any info on the internet of that occurrence.
