Is McDonald’s New Sweet Corn Cone Good?

We put it to the lick test.

McDonald’s Nasi Lemak Burger is back with a couple of new sidekicks, like some rather dull potato wedges - and this rather interesting Sweet Corn Cone ($1). It tastes like the fast food chain's well-loved vanilla soft serve ice cream perfumed with a subtle corn flavour.

It’s reminiscent of the old-school slab version between wafer biscuits you get from the ice cream cart uncle, but softer, creamier and smoother.

It would’ve been even yummier if it were studded with crunchy corn kernels. Still, it’s pretty refreshing in this current hot weather.

Worth trying, we say.

Available at all McDonald's dessert kiosks.

Corn-sizzurp on your corn cone that you procure from the drive-thru in your gasohol fueled car.

Really? It’s a nice mild, but flavourful coffee. Are you sure you’re not thinking of Starbucks. Vile and vomitous would be adjectives I would connect with Starbucks...plus BURNT.

This always comes up about McDonalds food, but the question is what are the environmental conditions where this picture was taken and the food was stored?

If the food was properly desiccated it could stay in this mummified state indefinitely.

If the Pharaohs ate McRamses Burgers people would blame them for the fact they are so well preserved.

If they really wanted to show this effect is genuine they would buy multiple burgers from different burger joints and have them all set side by side for years, there is no "control" for this picture.

A Corn sundae is a big seller in Thailand. I had not seen one before or since but they were a common item at the market vendors.

Their fries were #1 when they used Beef Tallow to fry in.
I purchased some Tallow myself and now make fries in it. Tastes just like in the 60's. Just filter it and refrigerate it between uses.

"McDonald’s is not real food."

Real food comes from a farm, not a clown.

Being you’re in Canada I don’t know why you would ever venture away from Tim’s.

There is a Tims like 80 miles from here and I’ve thought about going to it. We had one in CT when I used to take long motorcycle rides. I would always stop in for their vanilla “hot smoothie”.

I may also suggest regional differences. When in Ireland, McDonalds is simply my favorite. The food is so damned good. But here ? It’s worse than MREs.

I will drink Tim’s coffee in a pinch, but am not overly fond of it. McDonald’s is far better, but now I just make coffee at home.

I wonder what they do differently in Ireland. Maybe the fries are still done in beef tallow.
