This is the worst fall for new TV shows in the decade Ive been a professional TV critic. And its hard to find one much worse in all the years Ive been cognizant of new fall TV as a concept, since the late 80s.
The comedies didnt make me laugh. The dramas made me roll my eyes. Even with the boom in platforms making new TV, theres but one show Id recommend wholeheartedly and a smattering of others that made me say, There could be something there if they work out the kinks. The vast, vast majority of the new shows whether on broadcast or cable or streaming are just plain bad.
Now, to be sure, there are some heavily anticipated shows I have yet to see. Star Trek: Discovery, for instance, hasnt sent out screeners to critics. (That CBS All Access is playing so coy with the show isnt a great sign, but with a major project like this, its entirely possible the post-production process is taking longer than usual.) But Ive still seen the vast majority of new series and theyre bad.
So when people ask me what new shows they should watch, it takes but a few seconds to say, Hey, The Deuce is good! But if theyre not fans of David Simon or James Franco, or if they dont have HBO, well
ABCs The Mayor is pretty charming. Foxs Ghosted has a good enough cast that I guess it should pull itself together eventually. CBSs S.W.A.T. is certainly ambitious for a remake of an old TV show, even if its not all there yet

First season of “The Wire” was the best.
Ian Wolfe had a very long career and never quit working. I even saw him show up on a Cheers episode once. He has 305 acting credits and his last movie was the 1990 film Dick Tracy. Great Character actor.
The pricing on some of the Amazon choices are unreal. I would love to watch La Femme Nikita again but not at the prices they have. Even Law & Order is high.
I do hope that you mean "computer graphics." There is a world of difference between the two.
I Gave up professional sports in early 1980s.
Reality shows? Never watched a single one. Never plan to.
I have the “Fall of Eagles” DVD.
I just can’t buy that woman as a Delta Force sniper, seems silly, to me.

Isn’t Michael McKean amazing, that he could go from playing Lenny on L&S to Chuck McGill on Better Call Saul?
What an azmzing actor that guy is!
Oh, he was also great in Best of Show and Spinal Tap!

Yeah don’t look for it you may have your heart broken.
There are plenty of decent shows on network TV now I'm sure. The Goldbergs seems like a pretty decent show.
When I was a kid, I sat there and watched Alice because my parents did. That was a horrible frickin' show. Even 11 year old me thought it was stupid. But it was on the air for probably 7 years. You never see it in reurns either. Why? Because it sucked.
The Middle will go for one last season...

Justified and The Shield are excellent!
Yeah, it’s goofy.
It comes on nine months after her death, so the family can get over it.

I hope you watched Foyle’s War———I was unfamiliar with it and decided to give it a try last winter——it was wonderful.
.
I was a teen back then and found it very appealing.
My father is 90 and it’s very hard to find anything he can watch. The shows today are pure crap.
Last spring I found 165 episodes of Daniel Boone on youtube. We finished the last season about a week ago. Having that amount of material on hand was a Godsend. Now I have to find something else.
My mom liked Bonanza she must have seen each one a 100 times

I've been meaning to watch it but haven't gotten around to it.But winter's coming so....
Fifty years ago, we could not wait for the Sept. TV Guide issue that had all the new shows.
How things have changed.
