This plausible track scenario highlights extreme inland wind gusts well in excess of 70-90 mph all the way to Atlanta.
Then a Prius might also be a good car to have in these situations. Thx
Looks like a harem room...
How much time do you get from each cannister?
Is it 5k?
Is it quieter?
If things aren’t too bad, I’ll be receiving my 100W solar panel right about the time any long-term power outages start. Still mad at myself for not picking up a 400W battery+inverter pack (Goal Zero Yeti 400) for $299 a few months ago.
Not so much unless you have a trailer full of charged batteries. Prius still use gas - a dangerous liquid to store and transfer.
Pretty sure its the kids rental rooms. I saw some pics on web from a place where you could rent it.
Couldnt find a pic of a rich guys concrete bunker on Necker Island, though
Dunno how long a can will last. Have 4 of them now. Don’t plan on using them for much more than just cooling freezers. (Fortunately the outside temps are quite comfortable now, so HVAC is unnecessary for a few weeks.)
4KW (peak, it’s always measured as “peak”) generator.
It’s not really loud, but certainly violates “operational security”.
Will fire it up tonight to ensure it still works.
This is exactly why I want an electric car and a “solar roof”.
I’ve done it inside a car in the past for limited amounts and/or distances. I now have a small SUV with a hitch receiver, and one of those carry racks that goes into it. So that’s how I haul gas cans now.
GA FReeper ping. Useful info here.
Interesting.
I’m going to have to test adding solar panels through a grid tie inverter to a battery powered sign-wave inverter running the household base load.
Interesting.
I’m going to have to test adding solar panels through a grid tie inverter to a battery powered sine-wave inverter running the household base load.
Good advice, except my condo is on 3rd floor. Not easy to connect to a car in parking lot. Oh well, it will be peanut butter & jelly plus fruit bars Plus fresh fruit only, if power goes out.
At this time, what would be the odds of being able to fly out of Atlanta around noon on Monday?
It was supposedly the Wine Cellar. Best to go down to shield the valuable old growth vintages.
I was thinking that it would be good to know the elevation of the bottom of the cellar and have a large drain pipe with a shutoff valve to be able to select between high quantity drainage should the water decide to get in from above while having the capability to shut off high surge levels through the bottom; a delicate design exercise.
The house is pretty high up..of course the bunker is going to be much lower..especially if it is a rigged up rich guy SHTF type bunker.
He was bragging before it hit about how well built his place was and that it had hurricane blinds, etc.
I bet a lot of it is leveled.
A lot of FL people are evacuating to GA. Time for a plan B, IMO.
operational security
lol
Thank you for your service
Count your self lucky to pass on the Goal Zero Yeti 400. It only has a 35Ah 12 volt battery. Even they admit that it takes 20 hours of full sunlight to recharge. That’s 4 days real time with optimistic 5hrs full sun.
Since you have a 100 watt solar panel, I assume you have a solar charge controller, so you’re better off buying a 100Ah AGM battery for about $180 from Amazon along with a Bestek 1000W modified sine wave inverter about $99. Or go for a pure sine wave Tiger Claw 1500W inverter for $200. P
More power per bucks.
A 100w panel plus 100Ah battery can keep you running stuff long than the slick design Goal Zero with anemic performance. For cost comparison I had A Schumacher jump box battery 35Ah with built in inverter, and 12 volt accesory outlet as well as 2 duplex outlets. Not useful for any medium size motor running, though for charging LED and cell phones it was adequate as stand alone no charge source emergency source. Cost was $99 a few years ago.
But I will miss scrambled eggs and bacon and coffee in the mornings.
One of the recent tracks has the cane eyewall making landfall at Brunswick. You might get more than your eggs scrambled if this keeps up.
