Customer says she feels 'poisoned' after discovering meat in vegetarian meal ordered at a local eatery

A Jewish woman from Michigan is suing a restaurant for serving her bacon in an omelet that was supposed be meatless.

Get The Times of Israel's Daily Edition by email and never miss our top stories FREE SIGN UP That lawsuit was filed on behalf of Angela Montgomery, 30, of Sterling Heights by her attorney Majed Moughni, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

Montgomery is seeking monetary damages for emotional and physical distress caused by eating the bacon. She alleged breach of contract and negligent representation.

Pig meat is forbidden under traditional Jewish law.

Montgomery said she found bacon in a vegetarian omelet she ordered on August 25 at a local Denny’s restaurant in Sterling Heights. After taking a few bites, she noticed bacon in the meal. According to the lawsuit, she is a “is a practicing Jew and whose religion forbids the eating of any pork product.”

The waitress and manager both apologized and said the mistake happened because the bacon was stored next to the vegetables in the kitchen, the report said.

Although the manager offered to make her another omelet, Montgomery said she no longer had an appetite.

Montgomery told the Free Press that bacon is “an abominable food.”

“It’s like the most vile, disgusting creature on planet Earth that’s not supposed to go in your body, and I ate it,” she said. “To me, that’s a poisoning. I was poisoned.”

Moughni also filed a similar lawsuit on August 22 on behalf of a Muslim couple from Dearborn, who were served bacon in a cheese sandwich they bought at a KFC in Lincoln Park. Both lawsuits were filed in the Wayne County Circuit Court.

“You can’t allow this practice to continue, whether you’re Muslim or Jewish, and you walk into an establishment and they don’t care about what they are serving,” Moughni said.

Earlier this year Moughni filed a lawsuit against a Little Caesars Pizza in Dearborn for advertising halal pepperoni pizza that he claimed wasn’t halal and contained bacon, the Free Press said.

Bwahahaha. She can repent in her heart, like any of G-d’s children (and by that I mean all humans.)

Pity thinking a Passover sacrifice attones for sin.

” In Rhode Island, the state’s Human Rights Commission decided that “

This was the secret weapon in the 35 page legislation that was Houston’s so-called “Bathroom bill”. an unaccountable taxpayer funded libtard panel that would selectively prosecute those they ruled “politically incorrect”.

If there is an allegation of discrimination in hiring or service, bring it to civil court.

IDIOT! Denny’s is NOT a kosher restaurant. ALL items are cooked on the same surfaces, regardless of content. Pork, ham or bacon grease will doubtless mix into her “meatless” omlet. EVERY observant Jew knows this. What a despicable fraud.

If these pork-obsessed religions would consider that their pork prohibition was based upon decisions made many centuries ago they would have dropped their bans. These prohibitions were made for reasons totally apart from any factual dangers of the animal.

Hogs can be hosts to parasites, such as tapeworm and trichinosis which are parasitic in humans. However, trichinosis appeared way before the bans were made, in 1859. Today trichinosis has been almost completely eliminated from modern pork production, thanks to modern adherence to strict production practices. Your chances of getting trichinosis is 1 in 154 million in America.

Furthermore, the problems manifested in hogs raised in ancient urban environments may have been there but, it is very unlikely that the ancients knew of any connection between the parasites and eating pork. It takes years for the problems to develop and there was no scientific organization to investigate the connections. The prohibitions came as a resentment between the nomadic culture and the urban culture. That pigs grubbed in the dirt and rolled in the muck represented to others the unclean culture they came from. This resentment was especially deep between the Jews and the Romans. The hog represented everything that was bad about the urban Roman settlements.

Ancient Romans found pigs worthy of being sacrificed in the sacred ritual of the suovetaurilia. Egypt sacrificed the pig to Set. Those “false gods” may have set the Jews against the pig and the prohibition against eating pork (and other foods) became a means of demarcating Jewish from non-Jewish groups and of establishing group identity and solidarity. The Muslims picked up this prohibition for the same reason.

There was another reason to prohibit hog eating. Enter the chicken. Hogs consumed more food and water and chickens outperformed hogs pound for pound with the food and water required. The religious leaders may have realized this as justification for the ban.

Modern hog husbandry has advanced hogs miles apart from their ancient counterpart. It is safer and healthier. Modern pork cuts are 16 percent less in total fat and 27 percent less in saturated fat than the same cuts were 20 years ago. Some pork cuts contain less fat and cholesterol than chicken, and many are lean enough for the US Department of Agriculture to identify them as lean or extra-lean choices.

Research has found that the methods of pork preparation also have different effects on the blood circulation. Uncured pork products and pork that is marinated have none of the inflammation reactions and platelet clumping found in other methods of preparation.

It is doubtful that the small portion of bacon in that Denny’s omelet had any significant health effects. And, for some reason, someone mistakenly ate that omelet, God is not going to condemn them. God would not condemn them if they deliberately ate one. Bacon makes everything taste better!

The only way to eat 100% ‘vegan’ in the USA is to go to a 100% ‘vegan’ restaurant. The only way to eat 100% kosher in the USA is to go to a 100% ‘kosher’ restaurant.

America is a Christian nation (that shows tolerance for other religions - not the other way around as some would like it to be) and so our restaurants are geared towards Christians. Jesus lifted Old Covenant restrictions on foods, so it’s not a sin for Believers to eat pork or to store foods all in one fridge or cook all in one oven.

Restaurant grills are cured and so retain at least some animal fat within their surface. The omelette is prepared on this same grill that is used for meat for lunch and dinner. And it is served on plates with utensils that have also been used for meat. The eggs are likely stored in the same walk-in as meat and milk. So, let her sue, award her $1, and send her on her way.

Mark, Chapter 7:
9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe[c] your own traditions! 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’[d] and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[e] 11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”
14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” [16] [f]
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

If they tried to start up the Levitical Priesthood again I’m thinking it would testify against them concerning Christ, for all of that pointed towards Him in the first place. Of course it is, as I indicated, completely non-functional at this time though it seems like it would be a feature of Israel just before Christ returns.

I’m not aware, though, that the Passover was when the Scapegoat was set free. I thought that was the day of Attonement.

Overreacting much?

Artificial BaconBits are apparently kosher.

Enjoy.

Denny's in neither Kosher nor Halal. The lady in question falls a bit short of following the dietary laws. Though she might avoid pork and other forbidden foods. Poor choice of restaurant, but I'd award her $2.00. Her lawyer can earn his contingency.

Either the article is wrong, or the lawyer is an idiot, but St. Heights is in Macomb County. Don’t think a lawsuit in Wayne County is going anywhere.

“Hope this suit gets tossed. What garbage.”

It’s bogus under any reasonable interpretation of Jewish Law. Nothing is kosher in that restaurant because its handles trief and does not follow standards like cooking meat with milk.

Her solution was to not eat there.

I’ve brown-bagged myself across 4 continents. She’s an idiot on many levels.

Kosher is about a lot more than not eating pork products. There is also a prohibition of food cooked without the supervision of a Jew. Cookng and eating utensils that have been in contact with non-kosher food are forbidden to use.She has a sentimental attachment to the idea of not eating pork. She does not keep kosher.”

Well said. This lady is an embarrassment.

“Are you a practicing Jew? If so, do you keep Kosher? If so, why were you eating in a restaurant that serves un-kosher food?”

Yep. To do so is actually forbidden, even if eating something like an apple, simply because it can mislead other people into thinking the restaurant is kosher.

I’ve butted up against this a lot in traveling around the world. Tend to eat a lot of sushi that I watch get prepared.

“so it’s not a sin for Believers to eat pork or to store foods all in one fridge or cook all in one oven.”

Jewish law never forbid non-Jewish people from eating pork. Have at it.

Unlike Muslims, we don’t push our laws on others.

(Or that’s the way the Law is written. What liberals do? Who knows?)

Oh, gimme a break! If she wanted to make sure she wouldn’t wind up with any pork in her mouth or touching her food, either in the preparation area, pot, stove, etc, she should never have gone to this restaurant. Someone keeping strict kosher observance would not set foot in the restaurant for a meal. If her level of observance was just not to eat pork, she needs some reality check on the fact that restaurants have all their ingredients for their menu items together and that errors can be made. Most people would be satisfied to have the dish made over without the pork and then kick themselves for setting foot there in the first place. Maybe this gal figures that since she reads about Muslims getting full scale reparations from the immediate world for being served pork, why can’t a Jew try that, too? :)

““With such an over reaction I wonder if she planted the bacon herself”

Very likely. You can buy a bottle of bacon bits from Walmart for $2.34, stick it in your purse and sprinkle it on your omelet.

Shazamm! Instant lawsuit by a leftist commie pig.”

Your hypothesis makes the most sense. The Islamic machine strategizes that they need some Jews - not just the Muslims - to object to pork in a court of law to bolster their goals - little by little.

First they’ll ask the chains to add a section on the menu for pork-free options, then a year later to request restaurants of the chain to open with no pork at all, so as not to offend Muslims [and as they falsely seem here to be claiming, “not to offend Jews.” My guess is that this “Jewish” woman is not Jewish, or perhaps she had a Jewish parent or grandparent, or someone to claim she converted to Judaism, someone cherry picked to work for the Islamic agenda behind the scenes]. This whole thing smells funny - and not from the pork. If she is really Jewish and not a plant and not a nutcase, she’d be embarrassed to ever make any of it public.
