What is the best basic Alfredo pasta sauce? Bertolli, Emeril, Barilla, Classico, Prego, Ragu, Walden Farms, Newman's Own (don't do the store brand with some exceptions)?

My sister made her own with whip cream, butter and parm, don't know what else. These look pretty good, some are on sale. Ragu Cheesy is 2/$3, couple others on sale, Barilla Creamy $2.48 and Classico Creamy 2/$4? Or should I try a couple different ones, nice to have a jar on hand.

I guess I have to make the ravioli recipe or buy Fettucini noodles and shouldn't use Reames, right?

We often buy the Classico tomato sauce, for making Eggplant Parmigiana, and we think it’s an excellent bottled tomato sauce.

But I’ve never found a bottled Alfredo sauce that isn’t ‘chalky’. I think that’s something best made from scratch. (Just my humble opinion.)

Funny story...when my now husband and I first started dating, I made him Fettuccini Alfredo for dinner (he calls it “Fetafraidy Alchino”...cute, huh?). He really enjoyed it and commented on how we ate healthy that night by not having any meat. I had to explain to him why cardiologists call it “heart attack on a plate”.

I make it with butter, cream and parmesan cheese. Haven’t found any jarred version that tasted better.
