I like that! (What kind are the canned ‘green chilies’? The canned ones I see in the store seem to all be Jalapenos, but you have those later in the recipe...)

It's a small, squat can usually found in the "International" food sections along with typical Mexican food staples. I believe they might be poblano chilies but they are chopped pretty finely and have to be drained. I looked online for the Old El Paso brand and it just says "green chilies". They are not very hot at all. The pickled jalapenos (hot, if you can find them, they balance out the other chilies) are the jarred kind and I have to chop them up by hand. I usually buy this brand of chopped green chilies:
