In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
apocalyptic; adj
adjective 1. of or like an apocalypse; affording a revelation or prophecy. 2. pertaining to the Apocalypse or biblical book of Revelation. 3. predicting or presaging imminent disaster and total or universal destruction: the apocalyptic vision of some contemporary writers.
Etymology: 1620-30; < Late Greek apokalýptikos, equivalent to apokalýpt(ein) to uncover, disclose (see apocalypse ) + -ikos -ic
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Today is the one year birthday of my puppy, Riley, whose addition to this family has been apocalyptic so far. Hopefully the partial eclipse that we will witness in my latitude/longitude will provide the karma that will calm him down as he enters his 2nd year!
