CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) A Chesterfield family recently opened their door to find a scene from a horror film. There was blood covering the walls and floors of their home.
The family said there have been several break-ins recently in the Ashbrooke neighborhood where they live. The family came home Thursday night to find they too had been the victim of a break in. They say thanks to a family pet, the would-be robber got away with nothing. In fact, he was lucky to get away with his life.
We didnt see anything wrong nothing at the front door, said Tristan Murrin, the person who was first to find the gruesome scene.
But once they were greeted by their family dog, they knew something was very wrong.
We noticed something when we walked in, when I walked in with my mother and there is blood spots on the ground, we looked up stairs and you see trails of blood coming from up stairs going all the way down, said Murrin.
The entire upstairs covered in blood. Someone had broken in not knowing the familys guard dog was inside, that intruder quickly realized they picked the wrong home.
My dog, hes a pretty big dog, its a larger German shepherd, said Murrin.
Murrin says his dog has never been aggressive before, in fact, home videos show the same dog laying down and playing with a young child.
He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him. They know him as big dog, the community loves him, the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him, said Murrin.
Murrin says nothing was stolen, and that he is thankful his dog was not hurt, but also happy that the dog stood his ground.
I think the dog did its job. He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that he wasnt supposed to be in there and he was doing something that he wasnt supposed to be doing and so he knew to act upon it, said Murrin.
The family suspects the intruder needed serious medical attention due to the loss of blood that was seen in the home. They are hoping by sharing their story the person will be caught.
Police did respond to the scene and say they are investigating. No one has been arrested but if you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers.
“Should be some fingerprints in all that happy mess.”
Along with DNA. Also they should have checked the local hospital ERs.
That’s taking a bite out of crime. Good dog.
I hate to say it but I bet the cops do not put to much time into this.
I remember reading, years ago, that they had to kill a shepherd that would not let the fire department in the house to rescue an elderly woman from a fire———(the lady did not make it).
The dog was doing it’s job.
.
Great dog. Should be awarded something. With the blood left I guess police should not have trouble finding those intruders. I can’t wait for the result of their investigation
Dogs Rule!
We were robbed once a year ago when no-one except the Chow Chow was home.
There was no blood (middle of winter) but all the robber took was one pillowcase and a couple of minor items.
I would imagine it all took place in less than a minute...the chows don’t bark before they bite...
No one could hug or even get near my grandmother when the dog was in the room but the dog would lay on the floor and let us kids climb all over it, pull its ears, etc....
My grandmother (a widow who lived on a ranch in Central California) had a dog named Otto. Not sure of the breed, but he was big. My father’s younger brother had adopted him. My father came home from college and had to spend the night in the car because Otto wouldn’t let him near the house.
hero doggie ping
Our old German Shepard used to ride in the back seat of the car with my mom
A guy got in the passenger side door with a knife at a stoplight trying to car abduct mom.
Big mistake
The dog jumped up and bit the dude in the neck puncturing an artery.
She then jumped into the front seat and grabbed the guys knife arm so it was spurting blood too
The guy was trying to flee the car but the dog would not let go until mom stopped her
The only reason the jerk lived was because there was a hospital with a great ER at that stop light less than 100 yes away. Even then, he almost bled to death before they could get him in the ER
Great dog, miss her
We never did get all the blood cleaned out of the car
.
They were not friendly puppies: id the Dog Handler was killed or incapacitated, we were told to shoot the dog immediately - since he would attack anyone but the handler.
Good doggie!
Here pooch! Have some peanut butter so you can get the taste of ass out of your mouth! :-)
Too funny!
My two Berneses would have jumped in joy and licked the intruder’s face, hands and head and brought him all their toys. Wonderful dogs, very loyal and playful but worthless guards. Love them to death.
I love happy, uplifting, and heartwarming stories likevthis in the news.
Me too!!........;)
Or wait for the law suit. You know it’s coming.
“Wonderful dogs, very loyal and playful but worthless guards.”
Mine were Shelties-———on duty and barked like mad when I was at home, and not in bed.
Not peep if the house was empty or I was asleep.

"Shepherds," short for "sheep-herds." Originally, they herded sheep.
