A lawyer representing Chris Gard and Connie Yates told the High Court "time had run out" for the baby.
Mr Gard said it meant his "sweet, gorgeous, innocent little boy" will not reach his first birthday on 4 August.
"To let our beautiful little Charlie go" is "the hardest thing we'll ever have to do", his mother said.
Charlie's parents said they made the decision because a US doctor had told them it was now too late to give Charlie nucleoside therapy.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
My heart breaks for these parents
The British health care system should be ashamed of itself for delaying so long. But then that is what single payer is designed to do
May the angels sing him home
May God grant his parents mercy and peace
Looks like the Brit “experts” slow walked things long enough for little Charlie to to get bad enough that the experimental treatment would not help...
His death will be on your hands and hearts forever, you sorry churls....
“Occasionally there were circumstances when a hospital and the parents were unable to agree what course of action was in the best interest of the child patient, in that instance the decision is referred to an independent judge...”
So even with their own money to pay for treatment, it was denied because the hospital disagreed.
What you said.
The picture of him looking and smiling at his dad should be forever placed in the British courtroom and the main entrance to the hospital forever....
Also,Brits not only see their system as being superior to everything else on earth but they see *our* system as being just about the most barbaric you'll find.
This ruling was a victory for the British Medical Society,an organization far more concerned with image than patients.
I predict these doctors and judges will be judged by the ultimate judge.
Agreed, I would not want to be them
I can be a real p*!(k @ times but this story makes me well up and I wish I never saw it if not only for the heart break of the parents.
For those Freepres that will tell me these things happen every day,( you know who you are) screw you, I don’t read about those every day
Run out the clock strategy.
State medicine couldn’t let someone seek private practice care.
Death panels don’t like to be challenged.
“Vengeance is mine!”... Sayeth the Lord!
“The picture of him looking and smiling at his dad should be forever placed in the British courtroom and the main entrance to the hospital forever....

True that but the pictures that got me were the protesters. They all women. Most of the time I’m posting stuff of women who are “pro choice” and want abortions to kill their babies. Here what you saw were women protesting the death of a baby then crying when they lost. That so got to me in ways you guys will never know.
Matthew 25:40 And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
To see it in Britain, and to know it is not all lost. There is still hope in that country.
I agree. A would-be patient should probably know going in that they are dealing with some cold-hearted bastards that would let that baby die. I thought we were more humane than the ancient Spartans or Romans when it came to "viable" babies. I guess we're not...
Bureaucracies kill. Just ask our Veterans. May God bless and keep little Charlie Gard.
” There is still hope in that country.”
There is actually. Many of them are copying our pro life ways and protesting abortion clinic. Don’t know if any of these women are from these groups but they may be or they may join them in the future. Pray they do.
