I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day.
What's the story behind your handle?

Started off as ‘Highflight’ because I loved the poem, but felt it did not belong to me. So, when there was a thread or comment on ‘prairie dogs’ describing them as ‘sodpoodles’ by the locals, I decided that being a woman of the earth, it was appropriate;)
I would also love to know the ages of FReepers. Based on the 20 years of FR’s existence - I suspect there is a high percentage over 70.
God Bless WF.

One snowy day I was walking down the street to get to work, and a co worker, who was behind me, shouted “Hey Boots! Wait up!” I turn around and said “That’s GRAYBOOTS to you!!” Called me that ever since.

Came up with mine in the early 90’s before there was a FR. Wanted something cyberpunk and sassy.

Back before computers were talking to each other, the striped bass of the Western Atlantic were known as roccus saxatilis and was often called Roccus in the US Northeast. Then they found out there was a Mediteranean fish that was given that name years before the striper, so they changed the name of our fish to morone saxatilis (which I didn't much care for and never use)

my paternal side family surname from 11 generations ago. It morphed several times and you wouldn’t even be able to guess the current version. Still starts with a P still, kind of like the day.

I used to have a thing for pink and green. Would never wear it myself, but I loved the combination.

It’s on my “to read” bookshelf behind me as I type. This might be a sign that I should choose it next.

taxcontrol was a response to the libs pushing for gun control. While I was talking with some friends about 2A rights, one commented that instead of gun control what this nation needed was tax control.... kinda stuck with me

One of the first computer flight simulations me and my former roommates had for a 486 computer was the F-14. I flew the first mission after drawing cards, when I was coming in for a landing on the carrier, the LSO radioed a message, “three quarters of a mile, call the ball” the computer replied for me, “Fatman has the ball”. From that day on my username/call sign has been Fatman.
