(KARE) Surveillance video posted to Facebook early Sunday morning shows a Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer shooting two dogs in the owner's fenced-in backyard.
Police issued a statement Sunday saying that officers were responding to a residential burglary alarm when the shooting occurred.
In the video, a dog is seen approaching the officer in the north Minneapolis yard. The officer backs away and shoots the dog, and then a second dog runs in and the officer appears to shoot that dog as well. The dogs run away and the officer can be seen climbing the fence and leaving the yard.
The police report states that "two large size pitbulls charged at officer" before he fired at them.

If you hang out in a cop bar and listen to the drunken chatter you would never call the police again.
I remember a time in America when no simpering twinkletoes too delicate too handle being bitten by a dog on the job could pass the training and graduate into police work.
Standards meant something to the men who served then, and effeminate pansies like this didn’t find defenders from within law enforcement.
How America has fallen.
Fired
Too Stupid
It the dogs were vicious burglars would not have used that entrance
So a smart cop would look for another way in
Please don’t start that nonsense.
Been to a dog pound lately? The places are stuffed with pits and pit mixes. No one wants to adopt the horrible breed. Smart.
I saw that and wished I could have edited it. :(
Tough call. But, a wagging tail is not a guarantee of a dog being happy to see you. And in the video, it does look as if the hair on the dog's back is raised and quite visible as such. Just sayin'...tough call. But it is easier to hold fire until actually threatened. Then no one can refute it.
Amen my like minded friend, amen . . . . .
Snoot ;o)
Those pitbulls wag their tails when they attack because they enjoy what they're doing. I don't think I ever seen one that wasn't wagging it's tail while mauling someone.
The dogs reached for their waistebands!
That's because the breed is extremely common nowadays. Pit bulls are in their heyday. Because the breed is so prevalent, they are, of course, well-represented in dog pounds.
Don't forget: dangerous individual dogs—of any breed—aren't kept around in pounds. Such animals are quickly euthanized.
No one wants to adopt the horrible breed.
That's just patently false. Pit bulls are very popular and widely adopted out.
Sorry for interrupting. Please proceed with the pit bull hate-fest...
If a cop killed my dogs, they better get me too. Because when I place my complaint will it would be at a time and place of my choosing.
Homeowners should get a couple free shots at the cop. Otherwise this won’t stop.
To the poster who said most cops are good. My personal count from ones I have personally known is 2 good, 4 really bad.
I cannot say what I think should happen to this cop.
This must be coming from the training academies. We need civilian observers in ALL police training academy classes.
The problem isn’t with good cops. The problem is with good cops protecting bad cops. This incident needs to be investigated. If the dogs were not attacking or threatening him,he needs to be FIRED, not protected by the Blue Wall of Silence. He is unfit to carry a weapon
I know it’s wrong to think this but that officer deserves a big load of buckshot with rock salt in his @ss for that and I wouldn’t be too upset if somebody actually did it. Let him pick it out for weeks and months, see how he likes it. Wussie jerk doesn’t deserve a badge and should never be trusted with a firearm again.
Same here.
They are COWARDS!
