(KARE) Surveillance video posted to Facebook early Sunday morning shows a Minneapolis, Minnesota police officer shooting two dogs in the owner's fenced-in backyard.
Police issued a statement Sunday saying that officers were responding to a residential burglary alarm when the shooting occurred.
In the video, a dog is seen approaching the officer in the north Minneapolis yard. The officer backs away and shoots the dog, and then a second dog runs in and the officer appears to shoot that dog as well. The dogs run away and the officer can be seen climbing the fence and leaving the yard.
The police report states that "two large size pitbulls charged at officer" before he fired at them.

I’ll bite! Explain to all us neophytes what justified the trigger happy Dounut processor to pull his sidearm and fire.
A dog comes up waging its tail...?
Keep the bastards from Elementary schools if that is all the requirement is for the idiots to start shooting.
In cases where death results, make it automatic death penalty.
I'm not kidding.
In putting on the badge they ask to be held to a higher standard. To a higher standard they must be held to.
The simple answer is this: they are above the law and will be held to no account.

“Officer shoots two dogs in fenced-in backyard”
Another lousy cop far too impressed with his power. Way too many of them these days.
Anyone, and I do mean anyone, who harms one of my dogs is a dead person walking.
The only open questions are where, when, and how.

Bttt doggie brutality bump
It strikes me that if they subsequently really had to fear for their lives, they might cut this crap out.
I have a 180 pound Cane Corso, Sherman, who is the sweetest boy, but snores like a freight train. He does have a very ferocious bark. But he is more excited just to meet new people and his tail wags like a cocker spaniel. He will playfully charge and buck like a bronco when he gets excited and if you aren’t paying attention he will knock you down with this shear weight and power. We refer to him as our yard gorilla.
Lick those badges to a high shine. The only reason that the cops are offering to pay the vet bill is because they know this a-hole reprobate screwed up. I hope the owner sues.
[ Hes also dark in colour, which increases the odds that hes a Muslim. ]
They also didn’t mention the officers name in the article , which also increases the odds.
More good cops than bad ones-looking forward to some pro cop articles-but they rarely make it here.
Absolutely correct.
but they rarely make it here.
Wrong. I see plenty here in FR.
“What is wrong with these cops? “
Cop, when you’re too stupid to do anything else.
Are you suggesting the cop didn't lie about this incident?
Should we all ignore the fact the cop stated, "The dogs were charging him"?
POS officer needs to be sued, jailed and fired.
The dyslexic, insomniac, agnostic crept into your post.
Considerably more than some other groups.
His blue life doesn’t matter.
Yeah, that happened here in GA recently in my county...now that you mention it.
The cop left the K9 in the car. Once that one was dead, they received a tip about another of his dogs that had died back in 2012...he had initially said it had choked on a ball, but it turns out the cop had shot it. Then, when searching for the second dog’s remains, they found another buried in his yard killed by gunshot. It was the most recent dog’s grandmother. He may go away for a while...
