Just tried to access Drudge and was interrupted due to my adblocker.
Anyone else ?
Photobucket is doing the same thing to me now as well.
#36 I found when I had some sites blocked that it was my Netgear router.
They had instructions at their site to take your computer’s mac address and add in the router settings.
Start> Run and type cmd then ipconfig to get the router address like 198.162.1.1
You enter your login. If you do not know it you can google the brand and get the generic account. If that does not work then use the reset button on the router, usually a pinhole you use a paperclip

Pages started loading quicker overall and Free Republic also loaded normal. The posting part is not as slow either.
Start button> Run> cmd
A black window opens, type: ipconfig /all
The Physical address is the mac address you use.
Hmmm, run ipconfig and get a very brief DOS screen that vanishes instantly.
Here is what to do:
(1) get the addon NoScript also, learn to to use it of course. It can be a little annoying until you get everything set. If frustrated just use the menu item “temporarily allow all this page” and it generally will make the page work as though you were not using NoScript. However for commonly used pages it is best to make all the outside third party pages that you do not like “untrusted” one at a time until your usual sites are working the way you want but much more securely due to not running numerous privacy and security sucking third party scripts.
(2) make drudgereport.com “UNTRUSTED” on NoScript — this will prevent javascript from running on drudgereport. The only things it is really needed for are (a) to “refresh” drudge which it does every 1-2 minutes sometimes — can be annoying, and (b) to run the new style ads!
Without javascript plus with adblock plus (and I use ghostery simultaneously) drudge seems to behave just like its normal old self with the ads properly blocked.
Previously was Chrome only. Guess I'll have to mix it up.

Drudge is blocking me. Guess I’ll stop going there. If enough people stop going maybe he will notice but with a billion hits per day I doubt he will.

I will not turn off my Ad Blocker to visit Drudge. I was seeing ads even with it on before. He has changed something.

I use the current version of Firefox and Adblock Plus. I also use NoScript and Ghostery and Drudge comes up just fine. The great thing is the Drudge site doesn’t auto refresh.
This combo I am using also makes Breitbart easy to access without all the junk.

I use Chrome occasionally - especially for some database related apps at work (for these, Chrome tends to run faster).
However, for internet browsing I prefer Firefox - especially on my 64-bit PCs.
FYI: My only complaint with FF is that it tends to chew up more RAM than other browsers - but this is only an issue on the few 32-bit PCs that I run. In these cases I keep an eye on my memory usage and start closing unneeded apps if I start to approach the 4Gb physical memory limit. If you’re running windows you can monitor this using ‘Task Manager’.
If I really want to go to such sites, I turn the ad blockers off for them.

Drudge has remarkably few ads.
Drudge's problem is the annoying auto-refresh every other minute. But that's easily solved with a trivial browser extension. And it's only a problem if you leave him up. Why would you do that?
And if you go to a site, there’s another bunch of them.
That's not Drudge's problem. That's a general problem!
Sites keep loading indefinitely, even though you don't see much of anything new. Your CPU fans spin up. Scrolling gets laggy. Your browser scarfs up memory! It's the problem of the runaway ad-tech engines that the moron webmasters have been persuaded to install. You check your browser's Network tab and see megabytes and megabytes of who knows what being downloaded.
You have two choices: ad-blockers or the nuclear option.
The nuclear option is, you disable JavaScript for the offending site. Ad-tech engines are JavaScript monstrosities. No JavaScript, no ad-tech. But nuclear is famous for collateral damage. E.g., videos don't play, images are gone or blurry, menus don't open.
It's quite possible to remedy these effects using content scripts (e.g., one major ancient conservative journal shows a white screen with JS turned off, but that's because they set body to display:none — trivial to fix with a content script). But it does take effort.
Might as well use an ad-blocker. These do not block JS, but prevent loading the ad-tech engines using a black list of IP addresses.
Now that you mention it..that happened to me too. I forget what site I was on. do you have a link to ublock?
Somebody gets it - thank you!! I swear, some of the attitudes on here make me think we have a group that would go into Chick-Fil-A to fill their pockets/purses with ketchup packets without ordering anything. Just 'cause they can!
