White House offers last chance for Charlie Gard
British Prime Minister Theresa May left the door open for the terminally ill infant Charlie Gard to receive treatment outside the United Kingdom, as the Vatican and hospitals in the U.S. offered to care for the baby.
May told the House of Commons Wednesday that she understands that the 11-month-olds parents are in an unimaginable situation and are trying to do whats right for their child, but that in cases like this doctors are forced to make heartbreaking decisions.

They really need to QUIT WASTING TIME!!!!!!!
Bring the cute little guy to America now....
The state has no right to kill Charlie Gard simply because he had the misfortune of being born in the UK. That should not be a capital offense.
More like stop trying to milk it for all it’s worth. They would of rather had the money themselves, for their hospital. I’m glad May finally came to her senses. This family must be exhausted. Safe travels.
Trump is always scooping the news. I wonder if CNN will give him a nice report on this gesture.
If they slow walk it the problem will “take care of itself”. The last thing the NHS wants is the child cured the US.
This isn’t the time for messing around Mrs. May.
I’ve seen her and the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson making statements that in essence refuse to help Charlie Gard.
They talk about the “doctors” or “legal reasons” for Charlie not to be allowed to go outside the UK for treatment.
Donald Trump has called your bluff.
Do the right thing.
It’s not a question of money, if it were; the family has raised lots of money.
It’s a question of freedom.
Rick
CNN has already said he was doing it for “political gains”...
Sorry a**holes!!!!!
“Do the right thing.”
They have themselves boxed in with their socialized medicine. If they let the child come to the U.S. for treatment(and especially if the child is cured), then they open the door for everyone else to make the case that the doctors cannot make the life or death decision. The system they have would go bankrupt overnight.
This should be a lesson for everyone in the U.S. that wants single payer or government healthcare. This is just a version of the “Death Panel” and it’s REAL and you will realize it the day you are trying to save your life or the life of a family member.
This is time for somebody in government to call out people like Bernie Sanders/Hillary Clinton/Jerry Brown....”Will you and your family live by these same rules you want to force on the American public?”
That seems to be their only reason...
It will be interesting to see what results from Trump and May’s one on one meeting. What a heartbreaking situation for the family.
Mrs. May still defends the concept that doctors and courts should be able to tell the parents that their child is better off dead than receiving treatment at no expense to the taxpayers. There is absolutely no valid reason to prevent these parents from obtaining treatment for the child. This is nothing but the culture of death flexing its muscles.
Nope. The UK judges want to kill him and that’s that.
May God comfort this sweet little boy.
“Doctors are forced to make heartbreaking decisions”!!! Hogwash!!! Only God and the child’s parents can make the choice to end the little tykes life!!!
PRIME MINISTER, MAY, make Britain great again and veto your doctors mandate...send the child to the USA, where possibly God Almighty will render a miracle with the help of USA, POTUS, Trump and our doctors who will work with determination & gusto to preserve life itself!!! Sad days for the once great “Churchill’s Mother England”!!! PM, MAY, you and your government should hang your heads in shame!!!
That’s what keep striking me. “The doctors have some hard decisions to make.”
Why is it the doctors’ decision in the first place? Doctors make recommendations, patients make informed decisions, parents make those decisions for their children.
Doctors and courts sometimes step in when parents are refusing treatment, like 7th day Adventists with children & blood transfusions. Even those interventions are somewhat tenuous but the new vogue to decide that someone’s life isn’t worth living against the will of the patient or parents is appalling and should be against the law.
Seems as if I hear a nasally but unfairly much-maligned female voice echoing from the past, saying “See, Told Ya So! Death Panels!”
Britain sheds fake tears while they try to run out the clock.
