Colin Kaepernick discusses “independence” while in Ghana
NBC Sports ^ | July 5, 2017 | Darin Gantt

Colin Kaepernick spent his Independence Day in a place where many people lost theirs.

The former 49ers quarterback posted on social media yesterday about his trip to Ghana, where he visited former slave trading sites as well as touring local villages and a hospital.

He posted a short video of the trip, along with the Frederick Douglass quote: “What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence?”

Get out of my country, and give back all the money that you got from Whitey.

Betcheraß it wasn’t Ghana.

No. Perhaps he was interviewing for a job as Ghana’s Director of Tourism.

So Did Kaepernick find out if he was from the tribes that were enslaved or the tribes that captured and enslaved them?

I wonder if Colon knows that it was the black local chiefs who sold their prisoners and captives from other tribes to the white slave traders?

According to Wikipedia, Ghana isn’t bad as African countries go. It has a somewhat functional and stable government, a free-ish press, and a working economy, more or less.

Maybe Colin would like to move there permanently. He might play football well enough to impress someone in Ghana.

Did this feckless POS bother to research his white ancestry? Or did he only want to see where the father that left his mother before he was born came from?

In his vision quest, did he stop to contemplate if the children of Ghana had the means to attend an institute of higher learning? How many universities are in Ghana? Did he ponder the venues by which the children of Ghana could attain fame and fortune via football, baseball, basketball, etc.?

Did he wax eloquently on just how it was that his ancestors were proffered up to slavery? Or was this nothing more than a publicity stunt in a sad attempt to stay relevant?

My bet is that Colon is on the international road to build up a resume for when he runs for some kind of office next election.

I guess since Kaepernick is not in NFL training camp like the rest of the NFL.... He’s done with the NFL.

The NFL most likely wanted to get rid of him last year, but they had to do in gently.

I suppose he went there to condemn those erstwhile warlords and rival tribes which enslaved each other, then sold their fellow Africans to the slave traders? I do hope so. /sarc

" Frederick Douglass quote: “What have I, or those I represent, to do with your national independence?”"

What a dumbass... keep digging, jerk. #GladYourCareerIsOver

You earned millions of dollars for actually playing games, thanks to the USA's independence, and are clearly not grateful for it. In what other country could you have done that?
