With some actors, you only need to take one look at the names of their movies to get an idea of where they excelled. In the case of Gina Lollobrigida, her film titles truly say it all: "Wife for a Night," "The Unfaithfuls," "The Wayward Wife," "Beautiful But Dangerous" - these are all titles from the 1950s, linked by a clear theme. That same theme continued well into the 1960s: "Go Naked in the World," "Strange Bedfellows," "Pleasant Nights," "The Sultans," "Imperial Venus" and "Curious Way to Love."
With such candid titles, could there be any questions left?
Admittedly, the original Italian names of some of these highly eroticized film titles sound rather harmless in comparison. Film distributors throughout the world tried to draw attention to the attractive actress' sex appeal - even if the actual films didn't have much to do about sex.

My error.
You’re right.
Its hard to pinpoint when, exactly, the first documented instance of side-eye appeared. But many credit this 1957 photo of Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield

That’s Jane Mansfield, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Reminds me of Hillary looking (glaring?) at Bill while he was checking out Melania at the Trump Inauguration
When that photo was made, somebody observed,
“She’s about five and a half feet tall....lying on her back!”
Villion?
One of her movies was Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell.... a very cute movie.
I have always thought she was one of the great beauties. She still is.
Villon?
RE “Class acts”:
That’s actually a perfect way to describe them both.
They were sexy and seductive without having to show everything they had, and they could actually act.
Unlike the current crop of interchangeable, completely replaceable, liberal vapid bimbettes that Hollyweird cranks out now.

Ballad of Ladies of Past Times. Villion.
Wow I didn’t realize she was still around.
Thank you. It rang a bell, but I didn’t remember exactly where I had read it.
