A hero sniper took out an ISIS fanatic with an incredible 11,300-foot shot which is more than 2 miles the longest confirmed kill ever.
A member of Canadas Joint Task Force 2 killed the insurgent with a McMillan TAC-50 sniper rifle during an operation last month in Iraq.
Sources wouldnt reveal the names of the elite sniper and his spotter or the exact location where the shooting took place for operational reasons.
A military source told the Globe and Mail: The shot in question actually disrupted a Daesh [Islamic State] attack on Iraqi security forces.
Instead of dropping a bomb that could potentially kill civilians in the area, it is a very precise application of force and because it was so far way, the bad guys didnt have a clue what was happening.
The source stressed the operation fell within the strictures of Prime Minister Justin Trudeaus governments advise-and-assist mission.
The shot took just under 10 seconds to hit the target and was fired from a high-rise location during an operation within the past four weeks.
The kill was independently verified by a video camera and other data, according to the Canadian press.

Bravo!
Waiting for Clint Eastwood to direct another movie!
Just don’t sit still longer than 10 seconds if you are an isis terrorist! lol
Actually the velocity at which the projectile leaves the barrel is not the same velocity at target. The bullet is constantly slowing. I shoot for 7 inch group at 1500 yards, love the long range shooting. What an impressive shot indeed. By the way Dustoff, I used to be a Dustoff driver myself!
I always hated it when you hear the thud of the bullet hitting near you and then you hear the bang.
The man who personally made the stock is a dear friend and a business associate of mine, just texted him, he is bustin proud
small world huh
Actually you have to compensate for coriolis, the rotation of the earth!
That does make more sense.
“Wow. At that distance the target must have been standing like a statue; just a foot or two either way and it it would have missed.”
My thought exactly - but then I thought “God Wills”.
When I can afford this Rifle and the necessary bling that must accompany it, I don’t think that the ammo cost will be a concern.
I suspect a ‘sniper quality’ round for this would run around 8-10 dollars a shot. Might be able to reload for a little less.
My largest caliber at present is .338 Lapua. I can get a decent round (on sale) for about 2.50 each. But I don’t shoot it much and I have enough brass that when I run out of my current stash, I can reload the brass with a better bullet.
I also currently do not have access to a range longer than 300 yards, so lacking ‘sniper quality’ ammo has not been an issue. If I can keep it inside 1 MOA, I am pretty happy.
I have some smaller caliber’s that I am able to push down to almost 1/2 MOA with decent store bough ammo. I just haven’t tried to get the 338 there yet.
ya...closer to 4.3 sec. to target.
I always first assume a spherical cow expressed in toroidal coordinates.
uh...better than hearing neither......
Magnum, hand load for that Lapua! I have mine shooting a7” group at 1500 yards. It’s sub 1/8 MOA at 100 yards when working up ammo. Truly an impressive caliber.
Not to mention the risk of a pigeon flying into the path of the bullet.
