Wow 3 replies? Did not think I hit so many nerves.

You and I have a very different perspective on this issue—I am guessing you never were an elite athlete or never had one in the family, and, therefore, you simply don’t understand the sacrifices that are made for “just a game.” as you say in another of your posts...If you were or had an elite athlete in your family, I am certain that your perspective would not be what it is...

Ordering? Your example does not work for this situation. She did not order the team to do anything...she very gracefully walked away—a very sacrificial act...

Your example does however support the political correctness that has infected our culture and our country. Shared by many PC people who believe that we need to be tolerant of pretty much any and all beliefs except for those of Christian faith.

I wrote my post more for others because your reasoning was not sound IMHO...If my memory serves, you are one who will not budge and has to get in the last word...so feel free to respond, but I am done.

We will just have to agree to disagree.

Good day

Thank you. I think we agree on about 95% of what's behind this story. I've seen how this works from both the player's side and the team's side, so I have a different perspective than most.

I played on two amateur hockey teams that had corporate sponsors. I hated one of the sponsors for reasons that were far less serious than this, but I knew that they would dictate the terms because they put up the money.

In this case, I commend the player wholeheartedly but I simply don't see it as "persecution." In an avenue of life (women's sports) that is notorious for being filled with lesbians anyway, I would expect this kind of dilemma pretty much comes with the territory and, frankly, really should be anticipated by anyone who gets involved in it.
