So if you ask someone to be loyal and they so no, it is the same as them saying they will be disloyal, who the heck would want their FBI director to be disloyal?
Asking an Obama nominee if they can be loyal to a President with almost completely opposite views is TOTALLY reasonable.
Betrayal?
Comey has the same mental bias as the press. No matter WHAT is said by Trump, put the worst construction on it.
It showed when he was working on the Hillary fiasco....with his hurrying back to the mike....and then saying....never mind.
I think he's had or is in the midst of having a nervous break down.
Paul Ryan slammed Trump for asking for Comey’s “loyalty.”
Someone should demand the disloyal Ryan resign as Speaker of the House.
There is a hierarchy of loyalties. Some have God, Country, Family. Others have God, Family, Country.
A recent president had Me, Myself, I. He wasn’t Christian. He wasn’t Muslim. He wasn’t secular. He was whatever advantage himself.
Sometimes God and Country are in conflict.
Sometimes God and Family are in conflict.
Often Country and Family are in conflict.
What hierarchy do you have?
Paul Ryan is Mitt Romney’s agent in the no-longer-covert attempt to overthrow the government.
Loyalty to whom?
Suppose that Ms Clinton were president (shudder the thought), and she had the same conversation with the Director of the FBI. What would be your response to her request?
What’s wrong with expecting loyalty from FBI Director?
Raise your hands if you’d like to see Comey fall flat on his arse somehow.
The final allegiance of the FBI is to the country and the Constitution, not the President.
It doesn't mean blind and unquestioning obedience. It means putting the interests of your government above yourself. It means doing everything in your power to ensure that your boss is successful in doing his job.
For instance, suppose a commanding officer of a ship runs his ship aground while at the Conn. Sure, he gets fired, but every officer on the ship gets a very good look to ensure that he did everything in his power to prevent the Captain from erring. Did the officer of the deck warn the CO that he was headed for shoal water. DId he push to the limits of disobedience of a direct order and insubordination to convince the CO of another course of action. Did the XO? Did the Navigator? Did officers on watch alert those two of the problem assuming there was time.
That is what loyalty in a military officer demands. It's not unjustifiable obedience. It is dedication to the success of the organization.
I really cannot believe that there is anything wrong in expecting genuine loyalty. It's a fundamental requirement for trust.
In light of the So Called “Resistance Movement” how the hell is it inappropriate to ask for a modicum of loyalty to the office, if not the office holder?
