A gas giant somehow orbiting very very close to a star. Will the atmosphere eventually just be blown away?

It’s interesting to think about how cold an environment we really live in. The estimated high end of heat is astounding, we live a million times closer to absolute zero than the predicted hottest temperature in the universe. Maybe that’s why no one comes to visit, too damn cold.
