California lawmakers voted to pass a bill Wednesday that will add a third gender option — non-binary — on state identification cards.
Senate Bill 179, introduced by Sen. Tori Atkins, will now move onto Assembly after the 26-12 Senate vote. If it passes Assembly, California Gov. Jerry Brown can sign the measure into law, making California the first state to add a third gender option on IDs.
In addition to changing the gender selection on driver’s licenses, the bill would also allow three options for birth certificates, identity cards and gender change court orders.
The bill, if signed into law, will allow minors to apply for a gender change on their birth certificates with parental or guardian consent. […]
Senate Bill 310, if signed into law after passing through assembly, guarantees prison inmates the right to ask the court for gender change or name change. In addition, the bill states that if a name or gender change is granted to an inmate, then correction officers must refer to a prisoner by their new alias. …

Not sure this will work on the federal level with Real ID act. Allowing this might negate the validity of CA licenses for air travel and the like.

This is totally ridiculous! There are two genders, male and female. Everything else is LaLa Land stuff.
That politicians delve into this junk is indicative of how low they will go to satisfy a small, weird minority, knowing that most people will not care much is what’s wrong today.
Lefties have eliminated any meaning from the word “gender”, just like “racist”, “racism”, and so many other words.
If it matters for a driver’s license, it should be replaced it with “Penis: yes/no”. If it doesn’t matter, just eliminate it since it means nothing. It’s certainly not relevant if a person prefers to be referred to as a person with/without a penis. I doubt it’s ever relevant whether or not the penis is there but if it does ever matter (for EMTs in an accident?), the significant detail is if they do/don’t have a penis, not what they want to be called.
The same for bathrooms. Forget the men/women or male/female designations. Have “penis-room” which may contain urinals for efficient service for those who can use them. And “no-penis rooms” (or vagina-rooms) for those who may need feminine products. It doesn’t matter what pronoun you prefer, if you want a urinal use the p-room and if you want a tampon, use the v-room. And nobody will need to worry if their child-without-penis sees a penis and all the other issues that go with mixing people with/without a penis in the bathroom.
If anyone doesn’t want others know know whether or not they have a penis, they should not use public restrooms. The purpose of restrooms is to dispose of human waste, not help the users psychologically - use the shrink’s restroom if that’s what you want.
So, maybe God forgot to tell us about this "third" option?
