“short runway”, or in general anything else that puts a situation or circumstance in a military context when no one is, in fact, at risk of dying.

- pushing the envelope
- sea change
- take ownership

Personal Cringe maker: ASAP or the long form “As soon as possible”
Is usually totally undefined.

Someone should forward this link to Scott Adams.
They way he uses these over done clichés in ‘Dilbert’ is perfect. Just perfect.
Coming from a cubibally based environment, I know I and my colleagues use some of these phrases. Some too many times.
But when used in ‘Dilbert’; they are perfect.

I hate the two most overused words by journalists and politicians;
Our ‘partners’ and ‘the narrative’.

My most hated: “Synergy”. It’s shorthand for, “One stupid bad, two stupids good. Magic makes it so.”

There will always be jargon, and some become overused.
Even if we ban all of these, there will be new ones tomorrow.
My peeve is "think outside the box" when it comes from people who have yet to master thinking inside the box.

“Put a pin in it” What they really mean is “we don’t want to discuss this topic now, because it’s uncomfortable, or we don’t have the competence to effectively debate you, or we don’t want to deal with what you’re going to tell us.”
