At least one business on Ocean Boulevard was closed throughout much of Memorial Day weekend, prompting a complaint to the NAACP.
That business, the restaurant and bar at the Second Avenue Pier, was shut down from at least Friday through Sunday, The Sun News found. Anson Asaka, associate general counsel for the NAACP, confirmed they received a complaint.

Now you have to stay open to cater to ferels who don’t spend money and don’t tip?
Is that how it works?

That makes no sense. I cannot imagine why anyone would close their business when a large crowd of desirable customers was on its way. What could possibly motivate such a reaction? [Of course, if I had water heater trouble too, I'd reluctantly have to close on the holiday weekend out of an abundance of caution over sanitation.]
Sadly yes.
Well the NCAAP probably have their own plumber inspect the water heater.
if an naacp “volunteer investigator” came to ask me questions, I wouldn’t even bother making eye contact and I’d tell them to suck on part of my body
There was a mall near the Tampa stadium. Due to massive, organized thefts they closed during games between black universities and anybody else. They were taken to court, lost and told they had to stay open. The stores in the mall either closed or went out of business. The mall is now gone.
You would think that if blacks wanted services like pizza delivery, or cab pickup they wouldn’t treat the service givers badly. But, they do.

Part time plumber and full time brain sturgeon.
Organized feral gibsmedat behavior- whodda thunk it?
I found it very odd that you couldn’t find any information from residents this year that have to put up with the crap from ‘Black Bike Week’. Usually you can tell what is really going on from the comments in the news sections. It was like a news black out. Other than the mug shots.

I guess the residents were told to shut up and deal with it.
Are you kidding? Did you forget the sarcasm tag?
I see no difference between the SS of Germany and the NAACP gestapo of Amerika.
At the point of a gun you must cater and do their bidding.

Interesting excuse...
There are plenty of plumbers in the area that could have replaced or repaired the water heater within in hours...
They should have just told the truth...
There may have been just a tiny bit of sarcasm in my post. As a (former) business owner, I know exactly what it means when another business refuses customers.
Been vacationing in Myrtle Beach since the mid-80’s, and have experienced both Harley week and the BB-week. I now try to avoid both, but especially the latter. The stories over the years about how local businesses were ripped off is amazing, and I give SC LEO’s much credit for what they put up with and how they have dealt with the aggravation. I can’t say I blame the local businesses for closing during this week. You can only get ripped of and vandalized so much before you say enough is enough. I was always situationally-aware when there during this rally, and (as stated) do my best to avoid it altogether.
since when does the NAACP monitor business hours?
There is a Charlotte based morning radio show called Johnboy and Billy. Years ago, one of their contributors did a show on Black Bike Week as he has a Harley and goes to Bike Weeks all over the country. I was horrified at his description of what happens during BBB, He saw people defecating in people’s bushes, people having sex in public and heard from business owners how there were many, many dash and dines as well as complete destruction of hotel rooms.
Perhaps the people who are complaining about businesses protecting themselves ought to offer to step forward and pay for these damages.
