When Gillie Houston first tried the trendy, low-cal ice cream Halo Top, the experience was life-changing.
An entire pint has as little as 240 calories compared to about 1,000 in your average container of Ben & Jerrys and, some say, tastes as good as a non-diet dessert.
I think theres some kind of witchcraft or sorcery involved in the making of it, says Houston, 24, a writer who lives in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and has a food-centric Instagram account, @gilliehouston, with more than 101,000 followers.

I’ve tried it and it’s not bad.
Bottom line, it’s pretty expensive, never goes on sale and it’s not going to fool anyone into believing it’s a top tier ice cream.
If you’re watching your weight or watching your sugar or something of the sort it’s worth a try but, personally, I’d rather get the real thing and just eat less of it.
I see a Seinfeld episode on tap here, non fat yogurt.
And only six cups of sugar per cake!
It is no big deal.
>Plus, such sugar substitutes often leave people unsatisfied and craving more sweets. Youre better off just having a small serving of your favorite full-calorie ice cream, Rizzo says. That way, youre not giving into the kind of overindulgence that leads to weight gain.
Wow what a load of horse crap. Anything that’s less sugar is better for you.
Same here. Elaine gained weight on Halo Top, didn’t she? I just tried it. That is what used to be called “ice milk”. I prefer frozen yoghurt which is becoming hard to find(?)
Expensive
Fair
Low carb Breyers better
Don’t tell President Trump, he’ll want three Scoops...
Only full fat ice cream for me. If it’s not rich and creamy, it’s not worth buying.
If it sounds too good to be true....

It is much lower in fat, and has more overall carbs than regular ice cream. So if you are into atkins/paleo this ice cream is worse. Regardless of your favorite diet, because it is low fat, it will be less satiating, people will tend to eat more, and end up with even more carbs and sugar.
LOL You’re not alone in that statement.

Try WINK ice cream. Made from plant gylcerine, 100 calories pint, tiny amount of sugar (2 g?), very low carbs and good tasting. I order it delivered from the East Coast but a few stores have it sometimes.

Huh? It’s lower carbs than regular ice cream. A Halotop pint has 20g of carbs. Regular ice cream has between 100 and 160g of carbs per pint. Sure the lack fat isn’t useful but if you stay with eating 1/4 a pint that’s not enough carbs to trigger sugar rush -> sugar crash cycle which is the primary cause behind over eating.
That’s a Texas-size pint of real Texas ice cream!
Elaine did not get the emmy.
First test Giuliani’s cholesterol, then ill try some.
