Click2Houston ^ | May 26, 2017 | Brandon Walker

HOUSTON - The starting point was a Facebook post by a group called Texas Antifa.

The post alleges the Sam Houston Memorial's so-called demise will begin on June 10.

Why remove it?

Other posts by the group explain its stance.

"Texans agree the disgusting idols of America's dark days of slavery must be removed to bring internal peace to our country."

Up in Independence Texas there is the oldest Baptist church in Texas...dating back to Sam's childhood. Their family had their own pew in which the young Sam carved his initials in the back of the pew in front. Beautiful stained glass I believe from Belgium, a pump organ and a oil lamp chandelier made of brass or bronze...can't remember, but anyhoo...there are twelve lamps. At one point, thieves came in to steal the chandelier and it dropped to the floor, breaking off one oil lamb. The pastor at that time called it...Judas. Still hangs that way today.

Out back is the creek Ol Sam was baptized. The pastor and helpers from what I understand carved out of the limestone below the shape of a coffin. When Sam was baptized, the pastor told him all his sins had been warshed away...Sam then replied, “feel sorry for the fish downstream”. lol. By the way...Sam's wife is interned at the Baptist church there.

Ever get a chance...travel to Independence, Texas. Real perty place. The old Baylor University ruins are there along with historic buildings of settlements...just a historic place. Also there is the Rose Emporium. Acres of gorgeous roses grown on the place along with all sorts of blooming flowers, nic nacs and such. We purchased a few rose bushes from the place. WELL worth the trip. Stop by the old mercantile as well for a cold bev.

I sound like the chamber of commerce. lol. It's just a great run out there off of scenic route 360 or 390...something like that. During the spring wild flower season, huge pastures of solid blue...literally solid blue bonnets or yellow or orange or red or pink.

Wild flowers in Texas are something to behold. Look it up on Google...Wild flowers trail, Texas. If we've had a rainy spring....the flowers are amazing.

Horse hockey. Those aren’t true Texans. They’re the imports from Kalifornia, BLMs and illegals out for revenge.

Antifa is the only thing acusing “controversy”.

I’m sure Governor Abbott will fix this.

THANKS for the informative picture of Independence, Texas. I wish I had a microphone and the volume reached all of the world. But everywhere people need to remember the Commandmant of Moses to HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER....and the reward was IT WILL GO WELL WITH YOU.
Countries also have fathers, cities, and towns. Sometimes the fathers had stains, marks upon their life of obvious flaws. But at the same time, they need to be HONORED, as it was their vision, their gfit of life that got us going. I live in Mexico, and I chide everyday with my Mexxcian friends to remember with kindness and deep respect people who gave their life, spilled their blood, and believed in the future we are living. Sam Houston, was a drunk, had a wretched earlier spell, but he did end well. I see a LOT of the Confederate leaders as men of virtue, valor and loved their families. It has a tinge of remorse to see people want to destroy the legacy.

Ironically, Houston refused to swear allegiance to the Confederacy because he had worked so hard to bring it into the Union in the first place. For this he was considered a traitor to the Confederacy.

Time to pony up and draw a hard line against these traitors.

We've got to make a stand. These commies won't stop at merely taking down inanimate objects. They want to destroy the culture and the people who would preserve such monuments.

They want to do away with us, as they find our ways of thinking, of believing, of merely living, to be intolerable. Well, I'm sorry to burst their bubble, but our ways are encoded in this nation's founding documents, and are a part of its true history. The very history they're trying to erase.

These leftists must be made to realize that their ideas and ideals are an alien and invasive incursion upon an existing nation that never invited them here, but tolerated their degrading presence, due to our people's mutual belief in, and defense of, personal liberty and freedom of thought.

Obviously, the actual practice of our founding ideals has its limits, when not tempered with a healthy side helping of common sense and prudence. Freedom of speech should not mean freedom to harm the greater whole with pernicious lies, slanders, and the selling of destructive ideas that run counter to the fundamental agreements of an established culture.

Clearly, we cannot allow ourselves to be so tolerant, that we stand mute, and permit the wholesale destruction of every strand of the unifying fabric of our nation. If we fail to put a stop to this while its in its rabble rousing phase, it will grow and evolve into something much, much bigger, and far more violent.

The best possible outcome for them? Governor Abbott puts them on notice of the consequences of any attempt to harm people or property. He will end it.

Either he will, or we will.

One way or another, these commies are gonna learn that, "Don't Mess With Texas", isn't just an advertising slogan.

You keep saying "nation" but are you not referring to the Republic of Texas and if you are, are you behind the #TEXIT initiative?

Get on board and support TNM. Time for Texas to once again raise its head among like Nations as a free Republic, shed of Washington and the ties that bind.

No, I'm referring to the United States as a whole.

There may come a point where I abandon all hope for the continued survival of the union, and support the Texas secessionist movement, but that day hasn't arrived for me. Not yet.

In the meantime, I remain intensely loyal to my state, and to my country.

Blacks remind me of slavery just because they are black. When are we going to remove them?

Those extremist groups from the beehive cities in northern states need to have their asses run out of Texas and the South-I hope gov Abbott will show off his titanium cojones like he always does-it they don’t listen, then bring it, mf’ers-maybe I’ll finally get to use my tagline-me, T5’sguy, and a lot of the people we know have been waiting for the revolution since we were teens-and we are totally ready for it...

I love my country also and would hate to see a split-but if push comes to shove and Texas and some other states go their own way, then the insane socialists have only themselves to blame-

“Lunatic fringe, we know you’re out there-you’re in hiding and you hold your meetings”...

Isn't that what Planned Parenthood's main purpose is? Seems to be doing a pretty fair job of it, and with their cooperation.

EXACT same thing with homosexuals. No matter what you give them, it will never be enough.

How’s it ironic? They’re calling Houston a “slave owner,” not a Confederate.
