Marse Robert, beyond just being the greatest general, he is neck and neck with George Washington for being the greatest American. No finer American ever lived—morally and spiritually—than Robert E. Lee.

Perhaps him and Washington (in no particular order). Grant, Ike, Patton, etc. all had their qualities. But all of them fought from a position of advantage. Lee and Washington were underdogs.

The US Army even named tanks after Lee and JEB Stuart. The Lee is what Bogart used in SAHARA.
The Sherman, on the other hand, was known as the Ronson Lighter. One hit and it would light up.

I would agree except he blew it in the most crucial time at Gettysburg. I think America’s greatest battlefield General is a toss up between Sherman, Patton, Stonewall Jackson and Andrew Jackson with Lee, McArthur, Grant close behind.

Bullshit. He didn’t end any tyranny, freed no one and did his level best to destroy the nation. He’s lucky Lincoln didn’t hang him.
