Former James Bond star Roger Moore has died after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed Tuesday. He was 89.
Moore, who epitomized James Bond in seven films from 1973 to 1985, died in Switzerland after a short but brave cancer fight, according to a statement released by his three children.
The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone, said Moores kids, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian.

I still remember a quote (verbatim) from Ann Coulter
” At no time in world history, has DIVERSITY been anything other than a problem”
NOPE!!! And it’s self inflicted. Cultural suicide.
Honestly, one of my favorite Bond films was “The Spy Who Loved Me” .If course, having Barbara Bach to look at helped.
RIP Roger Moore
Me too.......RIP Sir Roger
In the more serious moments like slapping around Maud Adams and pushing that car off the cliff, he was terrific, not his fault they gave him such campy scripts.
Agreed.
Roger Moore's Bond movies were more light, and more comedy-oriented, with henchmen like "Jaws" and such.
Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Octopussy, For Your Eyes Only, The Spy Who Loved Me—what's not to like?
I grew up with Roger Moore as James Bond. Sean Connery was a little before my time. Moore's Bond films were highly successful and entertaining, and didn't take themselves too seriously. The fact that they were different stylistically from Connery's doesn't bother me a bit...
Definitely the writing. His early Bond movies were great. But then they fell into a silly formula that they all followed to a T. They started to come around in his last ones, but still weren't as good as his first two.
RIP to Sir Rog. Thanks for all the fun.
Very sad news.
89 is a good run, though. And he’ll not be forgotten.
RIP Rog... thanks for some great movies.
“...For Your Eyes Only....”
Live and Let Die, brother... THE James Bond movie...
And yes, Yaphet Khotto .. he did indeed “mess wid dat”... Jane Seymour was STUNNING...
*sigh* damn you cancer. My dad is going to pass soon from cancer at 79. No idea how much time he has left but it is stage four and in various spots in his body.
He was my favorite Bond.
I had to use Google to remind myself which one was Picard, so that's a no. I do prefer Han Solo to either of them and I prefer the new Kirk to Shatner. I'm sure there is something sufficiently blasphemous in there. :-)
