Actor Tom Hanks is on the beat in New York City, using Twitter to alert police to a car with a slew of tickets on its windshield.
Turns out the tickets were paid.

I live in NYC, and I agree with you. We're continually reminded, “If you see something, say something”, and “something” means even things that are mildly out of the ordinary, as you don't know what could be behind it. I once called 311 — the much lower-key version of 911 — to report a small, full overnight bag that had been been abandoned on a street corner on the Upper East Side. The 311 operator told me, “That's no small thing; I'm putting you directly through to 911.”
So, Hanks did the right thing. You just never know.
Forest Gump stands apart from the rest. A character sooo different than the norm. Similar to Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man.
When actors appears in the movie and disappears into the character, that is greatness. Hanks does that.
Yes, the left loves policing and controlling middle class and things like parking tickets, smoking cigarettes, legal gun ownership or the size car you drive, but will not think twice about excusing terrorism, rape, torture, robbery if done by their protected groups.
Uhhh...thanks for saving the day, Hanks.
You’ll enjoy discovering his films, some of which are shown on TCM from time to time — Scarface, I’m a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (based on a true story), The Good Earth. Like Lon Chaney and from his days in Yiddish theater, he was a master of makeup & disguise. He could play just about any ethnicity or accent. He was so good at it, that many did not recognize his normal appearance.
It was definitely sophomoric schtick. It wasn't great filmography. It wasn't meant to be.
It was designed to be a low thought provoking, simply entertaining movie. And it succeeded. And Hanks was a major part of its success.
Then you go from that, to what he did in Saving Private Ryan or Gump.
That versatility, that success, that is acting greatness.
Tom Hanks is a good guy without Hollywood pretensions, even if he is on the left.
Tom Hanks, government informer.
Addendum: “I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang” was made while the real life subject, Robert Burns, was still at large. Burns actually traveled to Hollywood to serve as an advisor on the film. The movie doesn’t reveal Burns’ ultimate fate, as it wasn’t known at the time. However, recommend you see the film, and then look up Burns’ bio.
Tom Hanks was an “everyman “ years ago. Now they need to find a more diverse replacement.

Tom Hanks Simpson’s movie, “If you’re going to pick a government to trust why not this one?

“He was so good at it (accents and imitations) that many did not recognize his normal appearance.”
Martin Landau used to be that way during his days with Mission Impossible. He and Barbara Bain used to be the ‘it’ couple for the most cool and urbane American spies.
My favorite Paul Muni movie is “The Commandos Strike At Dawn”.
Sometimes TCM runs a short bio on him.
So there is at least one other person that liked Bosom Buddies.
I got to meet Martin at a DragonCon a few years ago.
He seemed personable and a likeable guy to me.
An under the radar movie with Hanks was Nothing in Common. It was pretty good for the young Tom Hanks and also starred Jackie Gleason who was seriously ill who played his father and in real life only had a short time to live.
“Car 54, where are you?”
