Todd Rundgren: ‘If You’re a Trump Supporter, Don’t Come to My Show’
Breitbart News ^ | 14 May 2017 | Daniel Nussbaum

Todd Rundgren isn’t bothered that some of his fans might avoid his concerts due to his politics. The 68-year-old musician and record producer conceded as much in an interview with Variety when asked about an incident in which a couple walked out of a concert in Los Angeles due to comments he made about President Donald Trump.

“No,” Rundgren said when asked if it bothered him. “I’d say: If you’re a Trump supporter, don’t come to my show, because you won’t have a good time. And also, I don’t understand your frickin’ values. Because I’m not singing about that. If you don’t understand that basic thing, you’re just fooling yourself.”

Rundgren is currently on a cross-country tour, with multiple dates in Florida and Texas, states that Trump won during the 2016 campaign. But the musician told Variety that Trump supporters “will likely be offended” if they attend his concerts.

“Let the buyer beware! I mean, if you can’t take a joke, or you can’t admit that you’ve made a mistake, you don’t belong with the rest of us,” he said with a laugh.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rundgren explained that music is the most “plagiaristic” art when compared with other forms, because there are only so many ways musicians can arrange a limited amount of notes together.

“You’ve got the western 12-tone scale. That’s essentially 11 notes. So you’re eventually going to run out of melodies, just by the pure mathematics of it,” he said. “So the whole art of making music is trying to obscure the fact that this is a melody from another song and has just been changed in subtle enough ways that you don’t recognize it.”

Great song and true until about the mid-twenties :) I was a drummer in many bands and we always played that. Flirting With Disaster too. Free Bird. Stairway to Heaven. Dragon attack by Queen. Very predictable band LOL. Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin was my favorite to play

What a retard, mathematically there can only be so many notes stringed together?

Halt the audience walked out on one of his shows when he went super political against Bush and Quayle.

The show was absolutely the worst concert I have ever been to. It was him with a sound track and no band and an in your face screen with his PowerPoint show.

I don’t even care to know. But when someone says something so stupid implying that we have neared the finite amount of music possible, and that’s why it all sounds the same I have to comment on how utterly devoid of grey matter they are.

That fruitcake never has to fear this Trump supporter coming to his shows.

Never did anyway.

Also, Liv Tyler grew up thinking Lundgren was her father until she figured out that Steven Tyler was her real dad.

Well Todd was there as a father to help raise her when her real father Steven Tyler was drugged out and AWOL. She found out Steven Tyler was her father when she was eight.

"Todd was such an amazing [man]," she said. "It's funny because people only ever talk about Steven and they always tell all these stories but [Todd has] been such a beautiful, wonderful influence in my life and I still consider him my father." The mother-of-two maintains a close relationship with Todd. "I'm so grateful to him, I have so much love for him. You know, when he holds me it feels like Daddy. And he's very protective and strong," she told Wonderland magazine in 2012.

As my dad would say about people like him, “I wouldn’t walk across the street to see him if you paid me $50.”
