POTOMAC, MD — The Trump family has selected the new school for Barron Trump, according to recent reports. The 11-year-old will attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, about 15 miles from the White House.
St. Andrew's opened in 1978 with 40 students, grades seven to nine, in the basement of Pilgrim Lutheran Church on Massachusetts Avenue. Today, it has a total enrollment of 580 students in preschool through grade 12. The school operates on 12-week trimesters.
The school focuses on diversity, according to its website. “We value and respect all differences, including but not limited to age, ability, ethnicity, family structure, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status," it says. Less than half of the student population is white.
The Daily Caller reported that if Barron completes middle school at St. Andrew's, he will be required to participate in "service learning activities" in the eighth grade. These activities include a two-day field trip to a soup kitchen in Washington in which students make, serve and eat a meal with the homeless and listen to their life stories.
The school is quite expensive. For Barron's education up to high school, the price tag is $38,590 a year. When he begins high school, if he remains at St. Andrew's, the Trumps will pay the school $40,650 annually.
The St. Andrew's website reports that the student-to-teacher ratio is seven to one, and that class sizes range from 11 to 15 students. One-hundred percent of its graduates go on to attend college.
The Daily Caller reported the student body consists of 16 percent Episcopalians, 18 percent Roman Catholics, 10 percent Jews and 1 percent Muslims. Twenty-three percent of students are of other Protestant denominations, and 21 percent of students had either no religion or did not declare.
The St. Andrew's mascot is the Rampant Lion and its motto is Auctus Mentis Spiritusque, or the Increase of Mind and Spirit.
Notable alumni of the school are Pierre Omidyar, the founder of eBay; Joe Jacobi, the 1992 Olympic gold medalist in whitewater canoeing; and Whitney Cummings, an actress and comedian.

To some freepers, the Trumps can’t do anything right. I’m sure they looked all over for the best school and this is the only one they felt fit the bill as best as they had hoped. I still remember when some freepers were recommending this school over Sidwell’s.
And now, without any evidence, they’re claiming Melania is a progressive! A woman who has been as quiet as a mouse and her only FL activity has been to show up at the Easter Egg Hunt!
And feeding the homeless is a very nice activity - especially for children who are sort of removed from all the harsh realities of life.

Yeah! You are correct! The only reason that President Trump is having trouble with the Liberals is that Melania and Barron stayed in New York. There would have been no ugly rumors if she had moved to Washington right away.
My children have "service learning" in community college. It seems to be randomly scattered across the courses, and the specifics depend on the instructor. My oldest son had to do "service" for math class, but that instructor said "any service," so I dragged Bill to a church activity where I was volunteering. Tom had to do service for English; the instructor took them to a Unitarian Church across town where they did self-actualization exercises, as if Tom's self needed more actualizing.
Elen had to do service for biology, and it had to be biology-related. She started volunteering at Waterfowl Rescue, loved it, and has continued for another year, volunteering for more shifts, and nagging about bringing home handicapped ducks and geese.
She chose the welfare of her child. There is a limit to sacrifice for one’s country. We sacrifice to protect our children we don’t throw them on the pyre.
Donald Trump and his family have made a tremendous commitment to our country at great personal cost. It is unseemly and unwarranted to complain and backbite that they could have given more.

Virtually every school is oriented toward social justice curriculum which in it self is not terrible as long as its balanced with an opposing viewpoint.
Just like teaching about Islam in it self is not wrong as long as it’s taught as part of an overall religious studies.
An education is supposed to be well rounded..

This school is a little different than some elite schools. For example...they use brain based learning. I had to look up what that is...
Disagree 100%. There would have been rumors, etc. No matter want they did. Melania and Donald will do what is in the best interest of Barron, not want anyone saids and do. It is so refreshing to see this instead of what is politically correct.

The taxpayers were skunked with the lavish spending of the Obamas. They will live until June when Barron changes schools.
One needs to look no further than Ivanka Trump to see how Donald Trump has raised his kids. Smart and successful ... and as liberal as they get in New York City.
