Just a personal observation..
I have seen ISIS being used MORE then ISIL..meaning to me that Obummer was more in favor of telling us the ISIS was NOT bent on world domination.
um,... huh?
There is actually a reason for that. Obama’s goals, policies and reputation were being damaged by the “S”, rather than “L”. His administration was the only one that really used it.

ISIL was the Fraud’s personal slam on Israel, and all his faithful, including his “Republicans”, used the term.

The media deliberately uses ISIS so as to NOT say “Islamic”. ISIS sounds good, like an ancient Egyptian goddess.
Someone who knows Arabic here, here’s the wrap:
-ISIS: Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
The common name, and the more sinister sounding one, so it is the one that sticks with most people.
-ISIL: Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant
a more literal translation of the Arabic version of the name, since “ash-Sham” is the Arabic name for the Levant (Israel,Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon). It is not a bad version just because Obama used it, and carries no special meaning. In fact, I prefer this name to ISIS, though it doesn’t trigger me or anything XD
-Daesh
the best version to use in my opinion, since ISIS hates being called Daesh. This is because “Daesh” is the acronym for ISIL in Arabic, and it implies that it is not the “Islamic State” and it is only another militia in the area. ISIS wants to be the only “Islamic State” in the world and not just one of the ones from Iraq and Syria, so they hate the name. All Arabs use this name that are against ISIS, and it is used as an insult in many cases.

Obama and the diplomats who use “ ISIL” are subtly or not subtly promoting these barbarians’ claims to the entire Levant including Israel
The contemptuous term Daesh is what is used by the real opponents of these butchers.
The L stands for the Levant...the area of Israel... so Obama used that term instead...the dominance of Israel...
ISIS...Iraq, Syria, Iran, etc doesn’t include Israel...
Obama’s moslem heart obsesses over conquering Israel...
Because “Levant” includes the boundaries of Israel, the term is used to deny the legitimacy of the state of Israel.
By any name, civilization’s mortal enemy.
Doesn’t matter what it is called.
It is the same ideology and the same tactics used for Muslim vs Muslim violence that has existed for 1000+ years under many different names.
I cannot stress enough to read history of this religion and region (middle east, Africa, western asia). Read it and you will see the same thing happen over and over and over and over. Same cities sacked and re-sacked and re-re-sacked. It happens so often that it is really boring reading ... but important.

ISIS is in the Sinai, north Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Yemen, Afghanistan, even the Caucasus and Steppes. It is present in far more places than what we call the Middle East.
It’s even in Indonesia, that’s the far east (and I would not be surprised if they are in the Phillippines as well).
I hate that ‘Archer’ had to change their name, because if ISIS.
