The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was one of the most hyped new-car launches in recent memory, but Dodge followed that hype with some bold performance claims. For one, Dodge said the Demon can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph faster than any production car.
But like Dodge's claim that the Demon was banned from drag racing, there's more to the story. Dodge said the Demon does 0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds. Yet Motor Trend recently got a Tesla Model S P100D with Ludicrous Mode to reach 60 mph from a standstill in 2.28 seconds. What gives?

“Its a special mod not a stock car. The interior was gutted and they left off the rollout time which basically means that the number is fake.”
It’s a stock car. The numbers are not fake.
My father had a 1957 Dodge with the Super D-500 Engine which had that effect.
Once one discovers cars can turn left and right, driving is more enjoyable.
Haha funny, or funny queer?
Like the dragsters with fake bodies....
What’s the warranty on the u-joints and the differential?
“Does it have to do a shift before 60?”
Literature states the TORQUEFLITE 8HP90 EIGHT-SPEED AUTOMATIC’S share the 4.71 first gearing.
I guess I don’t know what a Super D-500 engine is.
One of my classmates at Walton High School in 1965, had a Chrysler with a 413 and two four barrels. It was a fairy old car probably from the late 50s. A large heavy car, it was no dragster.
Co-worker and I have a running argument about this. He thinks it is legit.
The car is listed at 4,000 lbs curb weight. I might be proven wrong, but you will have to show me that from a standing start a 4,000 lb car can accelerate from 0-60 in 2.3 seconds without tires less than 30 inches wide.
“Whats the warranty on the u-joints and the differential?”
60,000 mile drivetrain warranty.
What are the rpms @ peak HP?

Both the Tesla and the Demon numbers have been verified.
Besides, how many unmodified production cars have you seen that can do wheelies?
Rev limited to 6500. Peak torque on the Hellcat is at 3500.
With an 8-speed plenty of ‘room’ to keep it in the torque band.
Was the Demon that did that the 4,000 version?
I don’t give a damn one way or the other.
Not according to Road and Track.
It’s the first production car to come with drag radials.
The back seat and passenger seat are $1 options ... The drag radials and skinnies are part of a trunk installed package...
You forgot Royal Pontiac.... a SD Catalina “swiss cheese” car would fit right in.
“Not according to Road and Track.”
Care to source? I looked at a bunch of R&T articles and never saw that.
In fact, they say that the Demon is probably capable of faster times with drag slicks.
