Rubber-faced suspect takes 'mugshot of the year'

Noel Dawson Jr., a 63-year-old man in Toledo, Ohio, is accused of chasing a family member with a hatchet last week. But that isn't what caused his mugshot to go viral on the Internet over the weekend.

Rather, it was his police mugshot, which appears to be more Hollywood special effect than garden-variety crime file.

It's early, but could this be the "mugshot of the year" for 2017?

According to WPXI in Pittsburgh, police allege Dawson swung a hatchet at a male relative but missed and hit his truck, leaving a large dent on the hood.

While being arrested, Dawson refused to give police any personal information and instead "just shouted obscenities" at them, WPXI writes.

Perhaps, this uncooperative attitude is what gave rise to Dawson's attention-getting facial expression, captured for posterity in his police mugshot, which has since propelled his story to go viral on the web.

Meanwhile, Dawson has pleaded not guilty to charges in the case, which include first-degree misdemeanors for domestic violence and assault, a second-degree misdemeanor for criminal damaging and a fourth-degree misdemeanor for failure to disclose personal information, WPXI adds.

At last report, he remained jailed, unable to post a $50,000 bond in Toledo Municipal Court.
