If you are a man having trouble getting a date, you may just not earn enough money. A new report reveals that a significant portion of American women refuse to date men who earn less than they do.

>Its true the ad work may put Tom over the top. I was merely talking salary in 2013-14 Gisele earned $47M and Tom earned $31.3M.
>I suppose Toms ad work helped him make up the $16M wage difference and perhaps he did surpass her.
Tom really doesn’t have to worry because he’s high status enough without the money. However for Joe Smoe once his wife is making more than him the marriage won’t last long. I’ve observed this in 3 marriages so far.
A store has just opened in New York City that offered free husbands. When women go to choose a husband, they have to follow the instructions at the entrance:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are 6 floors to choose from. You may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you CANNOT go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the store to find a husband. On the 1st floor the sign on the door reads: Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs
The 2nd floor sign reads: Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
The 3rd floor sign reads: Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids and are extremely Good Looking.
Wow, she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the 4th floor and sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.
Oh, mercy me! she exclaims. I can hardly stand it! Still, she goes to the 5th floor and sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, help with Housework and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the 6th floor and the Sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 71,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that you are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
To avoid gender bias charges, the stores owner opened a Wife Store just across the street.
The 1st first floor has wives that love sex.
The 2nd floor has wives that love sex and have money.
The 3rd through 6th floors have never been visited....
As a married man, all I can say is sometimes such matters are not decided on a balance sheet after reveiwing legal precedents. Sometimes a man wants more in life than sex and a long term monogamous relationship suits them. I do agree that the current legal system does incentivize men to prolong putting a ring on her finger as long as possible, but ya know, emotions play role even in men.
To quote Mr Spock, "It is not logical, but I have found it is often true."
The only mistake I see in the headline is the ‘many’ needs to be deleted, then it would be true.
Well said. Having divorced and gone back into the dating scene in probably one of the worst cities in the US, its all confirmed true.
Same here. I had a young lady who worked for me the last three or four years who was gorgeous, looked like a curvy real life little mermaid. She was married to a drug abusing, drug dealing, physically abusive scumbag. She eventually ditched him but in that time went through a series of one after another boyfriends she would invariable tell me about who was so wonderful and they were moving in and getting married only to hear about him being a drug head and won’t work within a few months.
She finally asked my opinion and I suggested she step back from the dating scene, take care of her kids first and be patient and observe in detail any man who wanted to date her before making any commitment in any way. She quite work about a year ago and I ran into her a month or so ago at a restaurant, heavily pregnant with child number four and no fiance or husband still. Sad thing is I have heard this same story time and time again for the last 25 yrs. at my job.
My sister, I distinctly remember a conversation with her that was very “classist”. She would never data a plumber, or janitor, or anyone with a “lowly” job.

Would she date a guy with a "lowly" job, if he made considerably more than her?
I knew a guy who was a butcher. He owned his own butcher store, and was VERY well off. A small business owner in a skilled-trade field can make a LOT of money.
I make a good living, but my wife makes much more. Trust me, this is not a bad thing!
Not always, my Step Daughter, fairly nice looking 45 will date men who make less, but 1 date is as far as it goes. She owns her own IT business. Doesn’t want to marry, she is married to her business. Since she works up to 80+ hrs a week plus Church, she runs the camera and keeps their computers running as part of her tithes. Not much time to date. She visits childhood girl friends who are always trying to set her up with blind dates.
She belongs to a small business group who trade services to each other or give big discounts to each other. So she does have the opportunity to meet men who make as much as she does. Marriage is NOT her bag.
But she has to quit relying on her soon to be 77 year old father to fix the typical ‘male stuff’ like leaky sinks, or bad garbage disposals. He is no longer capable of taking on those chores.
Unless they play guitar.
