Is there a category for *tweets*?
I nominate *45*. :)
The Hugo’s sponsored by Tor Publishing. What a joke.
The only name I recognize is China Mieville, a hardcore socialist/communist.
Is Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, Clifford Simak, E. E. “Doc” Smith, Arthur C. Clarke, C. M. Kornbluth, H. G. Wells, Jules Verne, Larry Niven, Andre Norton, Robert Louis Stevenson etc nominated for anything?
The new guys are into ‘feelings’ and Star Wars and Star Trek.
I want epic adventure and blasters.
Disappointed that Analog SFSF and Azimov’s SF didn't garner a single nomination, but I shouldn't be surprised when the new editor only allows progressive story lines, such as a heavy dose of globull warming, into every story. Although I might have read about a heterosexual hero in a story last month.
“Alien Stripper Boned From Behind By The T-Rex” by Stix Hiscock. Are you freaking kidding me. The PC is just oozing off the page with these nominations. Every name sounds like a woman or minority. I’m sure some are deserving but this just goes against the law of averages.
There was a movement a couple of years ago by conservative and or white male SciFi authors who were fed up with being put into a ghetto in the SciFi community and they decided to use the rules to get more conservative works onto the nomination ballot. The group behind this called themselves the Sad Puppies. They managed to get their nominees in pretty much all the available slots in several categories, ostensibly guaranteeing that a conservative themed work would win. The hugo people responded by refusing to give awards in those categories, proving the point that the hugos are biased against conservatives. This went on for a couple of years, always the same result. It appears based on the slate that the sad puppies might have given up this year as it looks like a lot of global warming progressive stuff written by non-white gays and women, at a glance. Same as it ever was.

I noticed a couple of puppy-related nominees this year: John C. Wright received a nomination for Best Short Story, and Vox Day was nominated for Best Editor (Long Form). Will be interesting to see the list of winners in August.
As long as the publishing houses are in major East Coast cities then we will see the SJW brand of SF. It is just too big of an echo chamber for them to ignore.
I may ask my kids to stop renewing my subscription to Analog for my birthday. Or not. At least now I have a voice, no matter how small, by being a paying customer. Analog - do the kids behind the magazine even understand the irony of the Title?
Very glad that we have used bookstores to browse for reading material.
