I have known 6 people, 2 of which are relatives, who work or have worked for the post office. The Post office has been slowly reforming and in the process they are firing people for things they used to let go. There are postal inspectors following deliverers around looking for reasons. One guy was fired because he used to stop and get his haircut at a shop on his route while on the job. There are cameras in the post offices and they watch the workers. They also time everyone to see who are slacking.
BTW, the reforms are working and the post office could probably make a profit if it were no for their huge pension obligations from the past. Now the post office is full of a lot of temp workers some of whom are only guaranteed a job on a yearly basis.

I was told that the postal service no longer requires an exam in order to get a job. It’s obvious to me that these people aren’t even required to be able to read. I’ve had packages left at my apartment for people who live in other buildings. There’s only four buildings in this apartment complex. The buildings are numbered 100, 200, 300, and 400, but the postal employee can’t even match the building number on the package to the appropriate building. I called the postal service to complain both times. And then they wonder why they’re going broke.

Kasich always told about his dad carrying the mail on his back, but I don’t think he meant FLAT on his back.

They do the Sunday deliveries for Amazon around here. Sure surprised me.

Here's my hunch:
Drunken mailman is called on the carpet
Drunken mailman claims to have a "disability" covered by the Americans With Disabilities Act
Drunken mailman is given an office job at full pay
Or
Drunken mailman is retired on a 100% disability pension.

“Molitor was booked with having an open container of alcohol”
I didn’t know that LA had an open container offense law, even if the open container was in a vehicle.

A lot of mail carriers are temps now and they do not get all the great benefits or even a permanent job. They are usually only given a year contract that is not necessarily renewable.

It’s an exclusive deliver contract with Amazon. That’s all that particular carrier is delivering on that Sunday.

Yes they do now. This guy had an empty bottle of whiskey in his postal vehicle.
Now public open container laws vary from place to place.

The post office is making bank off of delivering packages for amazon as well as other on-line companies. Another thing they make a lot of money off of is those “if it fits it ships” boxes they sell.

I don’t know. I haven’t been to the post office in awhile. I do live in Louisiana and he is somewhat popular here.
