A lot of mail carriers are temps now and they do not get all the great benefits or even a permanent job. They are usually only given a year contract that is not necessarily renewable.

I routinely get mail for a completely different street. Yeah, so do I. Usually the house number is correct (or close), though. Makes me think that there are a bunch of English-as-a-second-language people working as mail sorters. It's gotten progressively worse over the past ten years.
