Probably a good strategy. If the leaker is taken out then the data could be too. If Nunes was to disappear, the leaker could contact someone else considered trustworthy.

The actions of the democRATs shows they were probably in on the surveillance.

From what I’ve seen, he doesn’t have a real “source” as you would define it in an investigation like this. The “source” appears to be someone who is simply telling Nunes where to find the incriminating information in existing Obama-era intelligence reports in the White House. This would explain why Nunes doesn’t need to identify anyone. He just needs to produce the copies of the intelligence reports.
