The other days I got the munchies for peanut butter so I put some on bread and enjoyed it. I also like peanut butter in ice cream as well as cookies. Also I like peanut butter shakes. Okay, by now you guessed it...I like peanut butter. And I'm sure most of you do too.
So my big question is why does most of the rest of the world HATE peanut butter while it is very popular with North Americans (Americans and Canadians)? I read that peanut butter is so hated by most of the rest of the world that once some aid organization sent crackers and peanut butter to some starving nation and the folks rejected it.
There has to be a reason why North Americans love peanut butter while most of the rest of the world hates the stuff.
OK!
Why....that means........PEANUT BUTTER IS PEOPLE!!!!!!
Vegemite struck me as some sort of evil, fermented wallpaper paste. I don’t know how anyone ever came to like it, but I guess every place has its food only a native who grew up eating it could love.
Do the British vegans who are seeking out oreos realize that the filling contains lard?
It looks like sending peanuts and peanut butter undercuts the local farmers.
I have my suspicions about people who tout “superfoods” like coconut oil since it seems to benefit no-one so much as developing world farmers and middlemen.
“This has puzzled me for some time so I am most interested in looking for the answer.”
I’m not so sure that the supposition is correct. Peanuts are used in cooking all over Africa and Asia. I think peanuts rarely if ever make it to peanut butter because they are needed for protein directly into the food supply. In other words, making peanuts into peanut butter would be considered a frivolous luxury.
BTW, I don’t like Jimmy Buffett either.
I just briefly checked it out and they don’t have any animal products.
I absolutely love bacon and peanut butter sandwiches.
George Washington Carver invented Soylent Green? Dats racist.
“I dont think the British have any room to talk about bad food.”
Lol, agree! Totally lame for sure. Btw, if you want to experience a disgusting spread try vegemite. Love Australia and Aussies but they can keep their vegemite, nasty, nasty, nasty....
You are a wise Mom ;-)
Racism
LOL
Chronic Lyricosis.
It can strike anyone at any age. It’s victims think they know the lyrics to popular songs; completely unaware that they are completely clueless.
Last year we did a trip to the South Pacific for my 50th birthday and packed some snacks and food items. The house we rented was owned by an Australian family and they had left some vegemite behind in a cupboard, along with other items. Each of us tried at least a taste and it was universally agreed that it’s not a taste that’ll ever catch on in America. At the end of our vacation we left behind some American candy, some peanut butter, and a few other snack items.
My favorite from The Little Rascals’ “Groovin’”
Life would be ecstasy/You and me, and Leslie...groovin’.....
I got some groceries, some peanut butter,
To last a couple of days
But I ain’t got no speakers, ain’t got no headphones,
Ain’t got no records to play
Put mustard on it! If mustard can make peas, cooked spinach & kale from a can edible. Vegemite would be no challenge!
peanut butter is essentially bean dip. It is not a tree nut. It is not really a nut at all. It is a legume. (Peas beans lentils and peanuts)
Why people dont like it a lot? Could be all the farting. Could be that tree nuts ground into a simillar butter are so much more scrumptious. Could even be the humble sesame seed beats it by a mile as a ground butter. Tahini is great. Grind up some chick peas and mix.. (Lentils) add a cpl of ingredients and well that beats peanut butter’s ass up and down the street.
