I’m considering a ROKU - the Premier+ model. A few questions from ROKU:
1. Is SlingTV required for channels such as SyFy, AMC, ComedyChannel, FOXBusiness/FOXNews, FX, USA
2. What is recommended WiFi speed to avoid buffering?
3. Does a hardwired via Ethernet connection provide a higher quality picture vs WiFi?
4. Is SlingTV the best quality (video and audio) option?
Notes: My Samsung TV is 1080p/120hz with HDMI inputs. It is not a “SmartTV”...thank goodness!
Thanks, y’all!
I cheat a little with YouTube (which can be added to the Roku box as a channel). Pretty much any old episode (including many MST3K shows) can be found on YouTube so I stream them from there. They are constantly pulling the shows down for copyright but they keep popping up elsewhere so you can usually find what you are looking for. Video quality not always the best but who’s complaining when it’s free.
What you ask, sorry unable to answer. Many others here who would be able to offer help along with Google: https://techforluddites.com/streaming-media-frequently-asked-questions/
Thanks for the Pluto on Roku alert
The link below tells us about Pluto:
I just got off the phone with DIRECTV and cancelled my $225 a month plan. We bought a SKYSTREAM box from Amazon two months ago to test it out. We love it and use the box over cable 99% of the time. So bye bye DirectTV. Plus I can use that extra $225 for beer, bait, and gas for the boat. Never going back to cable.
You can probably go to a TV guide website, select your 20-30. Hannel favorites and TV guide.com will probably line them up for you on a grid.
I have two places. One has grandfathered TWC 4down 2 up internet for $14.99 a month.
Someone gave me an Amazon Firestick with some program called Kodi.
I also share Netflix and right now Direct TV.
Later I can see just using the internet.
Even Fox News streams free on YouTube.
Yep, but where I live I can’t stream anything on the intent like Fox unless I also have cable service. No idea why. We looked into Direct TV, but there are too many trees in our neighborhood and he couldn’t get a signal.
How do I add it on my ROKU device? I cant find it
I know I had to do something very different to get XTV but that is GREAT
add XTV on your ROKU - its free and great - thats all I ever have on anymore
Sorry, wrong person to ask here. Had a devil of a time loading it. Texas Hurl And Minn_Bound helped walk us through it. Perhaps they will be kind enough to offer their assistance to you as well. Good Luck!!
Love the XTV Best thing around and tonight we are in an area which has no You Tube...How does THAT happen? It won’t come in on the TV but will on a cell phone. Oh well...Good luck with your installation.
T. H. Thanks for your help!! MB, you too!
I promised MB I wouldn’t bug him over installation of Pear ever again.
I much prefer the Amazon Fire TV with Kodi installed.
