No question. On Detroit radio, this song was always introduced as Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra.

This song rose to the top of the charts right after my first love broke up with me in a particularly nasty way.
Whenever I hear it, echoes of heartbreak come back, across a gap of more than forty years.

Forget Byron, what about Jojo.
I was listening to Super max when he said Elvis died.
Have you ever seen the documentary about CKLW? Their music director Rosalie Trombley was responsible for many careers, Elton, seger etc. She did one better. On a pure white Canadian station, she introduced the world, through their massive 50,000 watt blowtorch to black music and had a huge part in desegregating America.

CKLW and Bob Seger is a documentary yet to be completed.
And...let us not forget the influence of Ted Nugent and Glen Frey.
And, who said Gibson and Martin guitars (Kalamazoo) were not influential in the Rock&Roll of the late 60’s?

IIRC, a 17-year old from Seattle named Kenneth Gorelick was hired by Barry White to play in the Love Unlimited Orchestra.
Kenneth Gorelick is better known as Kenny G.

My favorite part is that little French horn riff near the end.
