600 yards is over 1/4 of a mile. Be assured that had any Iranian boats painted the USNS ship with fire control radar, they would have been vaporized.

T-AGM-24 Invincible was there doing her job as a missile surveillance ship with U.S. Air Force radar designed equipment on board. Previously she a SURTASS ship with towed sonar gear for hunting and monitoring Russian subs. Had a friend at the time with Hughes Aircraft Co. on board operating the electronic gear for the Navy shortly aft her original commission in 1986.
Time to issue an ‘apology’ over monitored channels saying ‘sorry for sinking your ship, it was a misunderstanding’... before actually shooting at it. See how quickly they high tail it out of there.
